Chapter 483 - 261: Drow Elf Priest, Beholder, and Black Dragon (Part 2)
"Alright," Raine readily accepted.
As for why he didn’t purchase scrolls from the Kreit squad?
It’s because even a Level 9 Mage, specializing in creating scrolls of their focused Magic School, can generally only create scrolls with spells of Third Level or below. Additionally, it requires a tremendous amount of energy.
The Kreit Brothers specialize in combat and are not adept at creating such Magic Scrolls.
Another reason is that scrolls with spells of Fourth Level, Fifth Level, and higher are almost impossible to make for mages who are not of the Transcendent Level.
Furthermore, the scrolls needed this time are all space-related spells, which are even more difficult to create.
Unlike his previous journey to the Dark Furnace Clan, this time, Raine is heading to a more central region of the Underdark, where he is likely to encounter some Demons residing in the Underdark.
Moreover, despite having Meredith’s introduction, he wished to further understand the situation of the Drow Elf clan.
"Lord Raine, this is the Adventurer’s Association’s guide to common Underdark creatures, specifically for Bronze Level Adventurers."
"Alright, thank you."
Soon, Raine was diligently flipping through the illustrated guide.
Given his current Power, most Demons with a Challenge Level below level 5 pose little threat to him. Therefore, he skimmed through the introduction of some low-level creatures after a brief glance.
However, as the pages turned with a soft rustle, Raine soon stopped when he saw an illustration.
The page depicted a silver-haired woman with pointed ears, clad in a robe embroidered with spider patterns and intricate silver thread designs.
Her appearance bore an uncanny resemblance to Meredith, both beautiful and exotic.
A silver spider Pendant hung around her neck.
She held a Scepter embedded with silver thread, topped with a spider-shaped gem sculpture.
The description below boldly stated: Drow Elf elite Priest, Challenge Level Ten.
"Is this the Priest within the clan that Meredith said is the most difficult to deal with?"
Raine raised an eyebrow, deep in thought.
Soon, he read on more details:
"....As a matriarchal clan, the Drow Elves’ ruling class, the Priests, almost hold the highest authority... And the Matron Mother must be a High-tier Priest recognized by the Spider Goddess Rose..."
"....Combat characteristics: skilled in summoning giant spiders for coordinated battle, proficient in both Healing Spells and melee combat. Furthermore, due to their exalted status, they are often followed by a team of elite Drow warriors and one to three elite Drow mages..."
Indeed, they are quite challenging!
Raine’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"It would be best if the rescue mission doesn’t alarm the Drow Priests; if it does, then there would be no choice but..."
Moments later, Raine continued turning the pages.
Soon, Raine paused once more.
"Is that an Eye Monster?!"
The page vividly illustrated a massive, hideous spherical creature, completely dark red as if bare muscle fibers, with a fang-filled mouth above which sat an iconic oversized eyeball.
On its spherical body were seven or eight stalk-like smaller eyeballs resembling tentacles, giving it a 360-degree no-dead-angle perspective, constantly observing its surroundings.
Raine had naturally heard of the Eye Monster, the renowned Transcendent creature.
In fact, anyone seeing an Eye Monster would immediately recognize that this creature is not to be trifled with, with its constantly floating spherical body and menacing appearance, more akin to the product of some sinister experiment than a normal creature.
"....Anti-Magic Shield....Eye Beam..."
Seeing the detailed description, Raine was quite moved.
"That powerful?"
For its unique Spell-like Ability, ’Anti-Magic Field,’ reinforced from the Eighth Level Spell Anti-Magic Field.
In terms of spell effect range, the Eighth Level Spell Anti-Magic Field is merely ten meters in diameter, but the Eye Monster’s Anti-Magic Field reaches a forty-meter diameter.
This is determined by its massive size and total Spiritual Power.
The Eye Beam is a formidable weapon, capable of firing three different attribute beams in one go, and the beams boast not just three but up to ten different damage attributes.
In essence, each Eye Beam is a choice of three out of ten.
Almost impossible to anticipate and defend against in advance.
"If one could be killed, wouldn’t that mean..."
Raine’s eyes lit up, his face filled with longing.
However, he soon noticed a small line of text at the bottom:
"....Eye Monsters are extremely dangerous to Bronze Level teams. Even Silver Level teams are advised to quickly retreat... Also, be aware that there are many mutated Eye Monsters, which require careful identification. Once a Wandering Eye Tyrant is spotted, do not hesitate to retreat immediately."
"How does it seem more dangerous than a White Dragon?"
Raine furrowed his brow, pondering.
He wasn’t afraid of the Anti-Magic Field, but the Eye Beam was indeed a tough challenge, as, at present, he could only easily withstand three attributes of damage: ice, lightning, and poison.
Thinking it over, Raine continued turning the pages.
Soon, he reached the final page.
The illustration showed an imposing Giant Dragon covered in black scales—one of the Five-Color Dragons, the Black Dragon!
"Are Black Dragons common in the Underdark?"
Upon carefully reviewing the description, Raine soon discovered that a significant portion of the Underdark consists of swampy wetlands.
Therefore, the distribution of Black Dragons is relatively more prevalent compared to the surface continent.
"Black Dragon... " Raine’s eyes flashed with a gleam, showing both dread and anticipation.
Among the Five-Color Dragons, in a reverse order of strength, apart from the lowest-ranked White Dragon, the next weakest is this Black Dragon.
Yet, with his current Power, even alongside the Kreit Brothers’ fire mage squad, they’re still likely not a match for an adult Black Dragon.
Of course, the gap isn’t large either.
"Perhaps once I’ve received the Protector and if the new effect on the dual hammers is potent enough, I might be able to give it a try," Raine mused.
...
One hour later.
Clad in a brand-new Power suit, Raine returned to Olsen Castle carrying several valuable space-related scrolls.
Along with significant gains, he had also spent quite a lot. His total Gold Coins quickly decreased to thirty-eight thousand.
By then, Meredith, Laisa, Sulfur Vine, and the Kreit squad were all ready.
With the thought of leaving and returning early, the group soon took off on Griffins arranged by the Adventurer’s Association.
On the Griffin.
"In ancient times, Moretahn was a renowned iron mining site, but during an excavation, a cavity was discovered, later found to connect to the Underdark, and its location was quite close to the central region of the Underdark."
"It gradually evolved into one of the main continental passages to the Underdark."
Listening to the well-informed Kreit Brothers, Raine gazed ahead.
After a day of flying, the ancient tunnels of Moretahn loomed before them.
Beneath the distant mountain range, several watchtowers built from gray stone blocks came into view.
Surrounding the watchtowers was a multi-meter-high cave, resembling a mine.
If not for Keller Kreit’s introduction, Raine might have had a hard time associating it with a passage to the Underdark.
"Huh? Why is there the flag of the Urein Empire?!" At this point, as their flight altitude decreased, Dylan suddenly exclaimed.
Hmm?
Raine focused his gaze upon seeing the flags on the watchtowers, which were not the Soladin Kingdom’s ’Griffin-Patterned Kite Shield, with Two Crossed Long Swords,’ but a distinctive Three-Dragon flag.
Three flying golden Giant Dragons occupied the upper, middle, and lower sections of the red flag.
Typically, this area should have been a buffer zone between the Urein Empire and Soladin Kingdom, a region neglected by both.
But now, it seemed to be under the actual control of the Urein Empire.
