Chapter 717 - 704: Shot and Escaping (Part 1)
"Alright, what do you need me to do? How can I cooperate?" Liu Fugui crossed his arms and waited quietly. He was curious to see what tricks this Spring Xiu could pull.
After taking a deep drag of his cigarette, Spring Xiu flicked the half-burnt butt away and said, "It’s actually quite simple. We just need you, Mr. Liu, to take a trip with us. Once we’re at the factory, have your men hand over all their weapons. Also, Mr. Liu, you and your son will have to stay at the factory for a few days, until we are familiar with the surroundings, before we can resolve your accommodation issue. That’s basically it. What do you think, Mr. Liu? If you have any objections, speak up now. Don’t regret it when we’re on site, because then, hehe..."
Spring Xiu deliberately revealed the gun handle at his waist again, making his threat clear.
Liu Fugui saw all this, but he’d been through many storms in his life. During his struggles, having a gun pointed at his head was commonplace, so Spring Xiu’s level of intimidation didn’t faze him: "No problem, let’s do as Mr. Spring says, but I must emphasize, while I fulfill my duties, Mr. Spring should not forget his promises."
"Haha! Don’t worry!" Spring Xiu laughed, patting Liu Fugui on the shoulder with a meaningful tone, "In the entire DZ County, who dares to play games with you, Mr. Liu? They must be tired of living, right? What do you say?"
Liu Fugui smiled slightly, not answering.
This Spring Xiu had repeatedly crossed his lines today. Spring Xiu didn’t realize that if it weren’t for Liu Yunpeng being by his side, he might have been long dead. Although Liu Fugui had significantly improved his temper control with age, it was limited. Once that limit was broken, Liu Fugui would revert to his relentless nature.
So Spring Xiu was undoubtedly lucky. Few could anger Liu Fugui so much and still live.
"Can we leave now?"
"Oh, just a moment!" Spring Xiu snapped his fingers, and a subordinate at the inner door quickly ran over. Spring Xiu whispered a few words into his ear, to which he nodded repeatedly before leaving.
Liu Fugui frowned slightly, observing Spring Xiu’s actions, and asked suspiciously, "Is there anything else, Mr. Spring?"
"Don’t worry, Mr. Liu, just a minor issue, it will take only 2 minutes!" Spring Xiu leisurely pulled out another cigarette, lighting it up, and just a couple of drags later, the subordinate returned.
"How is it? All done?"
The subordinate nodded affirmatively.
"Great!" Spring Xiu clapped his hands and said, "Alright, Mr. Liu, we can leave now."
Liu Fugui glanced at the distraught Liu Yunpeng beside him, sighed inwardly, and helplessly supported him, helping him walk forward. Thus, father and son were surrounded by Spring Xiu’s four subordinates as they exited the store, back into the open.
The heavy snow continued to fall, and in just that short time, the accumulation on the ground was already ankle-deep, showing the ferocity of this sudden snowstorm.
Once his eyes adjusted from darkness to light, Liu Fugui surveyed the surroundings and failed to spot his men, raising his vigilance. He voiced his concern, "Mr. Spring, where are the men who came with me?"
Spring Xiu pointed to a minibus with "SWAT" marked on it in the distance, "Mr. Liu, don’t worry. Your brothers are all in that vehicle. Once our business at the factory is concluded, they will be released."
Liu Fugui squinted through the snowfall and peered into the distance. As Spring Xiu said, a minibus was parked by the roadside, and through the only visible gap, he could vaguely see a few figures, presumably his accompanying men.
"Alright, Mr. Liu, let’s get in the car!" Spring Xiu opened the door of a nearby car, signaling Liu Fugui to enter. At that moment, Li Huiru’s silhouette emerged from the front car.
"Darling, why isn’t it resolved yet?" Li Huiru’s coquettish voice could send tingles down anyone’s spine.
Liu Fugui pushed Liu Yunpeng into the car. He didn’t want his son to be further agitated and complicate matters.
Spring Xiu immediately chuckled and said, "My little beauty, don’t worry, it will be resolved tonight."
"Vroom vroom vroom!" A rapid engine roar suddenly came from the street corner. By the time Spring Xiu and his men reacted, a small truck was charging straight toward the SWAT vehicle.
As the vehicles were about to collide, the truck door was flung open, and a figure leapt from the driver’s seat, rolling onto the ground. Simultaneously, three figures dashed out from the street corner, heading swiftly toward Liu Fugui.
"Nima! It’s an ambush!" After a brief lapse, Spring Xiu finally grasped the severity of the situation.
"Bang!" Just as his words fell, the truck rammed into the SWAT vehicle. The intense crash severely deformed the driver and passenger seats, leaving no survivors inside.
Everything happened too quickly, leaving Spring Xiu’s group no time to react. Yet in the midst of their confusion over the unexpected twist, one person remained remarkably composed—Liu Fugui. Having encountered such events multiple times in his life, his collectedness was understandable.
Seizing this godsend opportunity, Liu Fugui stepped on the foot of a dazed subordinate holding his arm and swiftly drew a concealed pocket pistol from his pants.
The sudden movement startled Spring Xiu, crouched by the car. As he turned to look, his body froze, as if electrified, with a chilling sensation rushing from his feet to his head. The deadly gun was aimed at him.
Liu Fugui, like a judge about to deliver a verdict, was ready to pull the trigger. He had no mercy for those who dared to offend him. He had seen such fear in Spring Xiu’s eyes too many times before, and in the next second, it would all end.
"Bang!" The crack of gunfire echoed alongside a woman’s scream amidst the falling snow.
Li Huiru stared wide-eyed in disbelief, her gaze fixed on Spring Xiu beside her. At the critical moment, she felt a powerful tug and then a sharp pain in her chest—she had been shot. The very man she intended to trust, Spring Xiu, had used her as a human shield.
Ignoring Li Huiru’s gaze filled with fading light but brimming with hatred, Spring Xiu, after using her to block the deadly bullet, pushed her toward Liu Fugui. Taking advantage of the momentary distraction, Spring Xiu drew his gun and crouched behind the side of the car, ready to retaliate.
Seeing the situation slipping away, Liu Fugui knew he couldn’t linger here, as the guards on his right took defensive positions. From his peripheral vision, he noticed some of them were armed.
Realizing a shootout would spell doom, fleeing was his best option.
"Bang bang!" The opposition’s counterattack responded swiftly. In Liu Fugui’s moment of hesitation, they launched their attack. (To be continued.
