Chapter 877 - 903: Willing to Take Responsibility (4)
"Can you speak properly?"
"No."
Mia Ginger’s tone was calm and collected, and Windsor Myres looked at her, momentarily at a loss for words.
She thought she didn’t hit that hard. How did this person’s face appear slightly imprinted by her fingers? But she had been angry.
However—
She realized she had indeed gone too far.
Windsor Myres softened her tone for once, hesitantly saying, "Let me help you home first, okay?"
"No need." Mia Ginger looked at her as if she were crazy.
Windsor Myres bent over to pick up the cane and, without saying a word, just like before, wrapped an arm around hers and started walking back.
Mia Ginger struggled angrily for a couple of moments, but in the end, she completely gave up.
Once inside the community, Mia Ginger coldly said, "I said Tori Childs is more suitable for Camden River just to provoke you. I never intended to set them up from the beginning. But right now, none of that matters. I think Camden River isn’t joking about being angry with you. You guys are probably truly over."
Windsor Myres was taken aback and said nothing.
She could feel that, at the moment, Camden River had shifted his life focus.
It’s no longer her, but his studies.
Without her, his life seemed orderly on the surface, but in fact, it appeared regular and serene.
It felt like that was how he was supposed to be originally.
Windsor Myres pursed her lips and asked softly, "Why didn’t you tell me when I asked? If you had told me earlier, it wouldn’t have come to this."
"I didn’t say anything because I felt too disappointed. Disappointment means I still had a bit of hope for you. I thought you couldn’t possibly distrust me that much. But the fact proved, indeed, you have no fundamental trust in me. Windsor Myres, you should just trust yourself."
"I just wanted an answer. If you had told me, I would have believed you."
"That’s not how it works between friends." Mia Ginger chuckled, looking indifferent.
The two of them entered the elevator and quickly reached the thirteenth floor.
Mia Ginger opened the door and, without inviting her in, said directly, "Let’s leave it at that for today. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways."
"You are my first friend," Windsor Myres suddenly said.
"No wonder I’m not quite normal." Mia Ginger mocked herself, holding the door, and walked in by herself.
Windsor Myres followed her in, placed the cane by the sofa, and asked, "Want some water? I’ll get it for you?"
"No."
Windsor Myres poured her a glass of water and placed it on the side table next to her.
Mia Ginger glanced at her but said nothing.
Windsor Myres asked, "What time is it?"
It was only then Mia Ginger realized she had dropped her phone on the street, so she checked her wristwatch and replied coolly, "Six fifteen."
"What are you having for dinner?" Windsor Myres asked again.
Mia Ginger replied, "Don’t concern yourself."
"I’ll go check out the kitchen." Windsor Myres turned and went to the kitchen of her own accord.
Mia Ginger, with a lame leg, didn’t follow her. She sat rigidly on the sofa and, after a while, lifted her arms to take off her shirt.
Her mood remained extremely foul.
Anyone would be furious after being doused with water out of nowhere and then slapped in public.
She found it laughable.
Back when Windsor Myres threatened to jump, she could stand aside and comfort Camden River, saying it was out of love. Now, thinking back, she was simply speaking irresponsibly.
It was never about love; it was plainly about seeking thrill.
Just like what Professor Lee said during class, seeking excitement and sensation.
