Chapter 220 - 217: Can Occasionally Use a Handsome Man Ploy
Realizing she’d been staring at him, completely lost in thought, Clara Grant hurried to his side to hide her embarrassment. She snatched the music box and couldn’t resist a playful retort, "What are you looking at me for?"
"Weren’t you the one looking at me?" Seth Quinn had seen her dazed expression and naturally caught the fleeting look of awe in her eyes. ’Looks like I can use my good looks to my advantage with her now and then.’
"Who was looking at you?" Clara Grant said, a little flustered. "Let’s go. Which room is Cherie in?"
She glanced around and saw that this was the VIP ward. ’It really is nice to be rich,’ she thought. Before, she didn’t have the money for Cherie to stay in a VIP room.
It suddenly occurred to her that marrying Seth Quinn was worth it if it meant Cherie could stay in a nice ward and get the best treatment and care.
"This way." Seth Quinn smiled, straightened up, and pointed.
Clara ignored him and strode toward the room.
Seth Quinn watched her walk away. Recalling his mother’s attitude toward her earlier, he knew she was pleased.
His mother hadn’t said much about their marriage before, but since she had yet to meet Clara in person, she was likely still a bit uneasy.
Now that they’d met, his mother was quite satisfied. It was as if his new wife had passed the mother-in-law test. He was in charge of his own marriage, of course, and they were already legally wed, so his parents’ disapproval wouldn’t have made a difference.
Still, it was always better to have his parents’ support and blessing.
A smile unknowingly touched Seth Quinn’s lips, but it vanished in an instant. As if remembering something, he glanced at the door to the room, his expression turning serious and grave once more.
When Clara Grant reached the room and pushed the door open, she saw that it was fully equipped. The layout and decor felt less like a hospital room and more like a cozy home, which only strengthened her earlier conviction that marrying Seth Quinn had been worth it.
Passing through the living area, she came to the bedroom door. The moment she peeked her head in, she saw Cherie sitting on the bed, craning his neck to look out, probably waiting for her.
Sure enough, the moment he saw her, Cherie happily called out, "Clara!" and started to jump up from the bed. Seth Quinn, who was right behind her, immediately coughed lightly, signaling for him to calm down.
At the same time, Clara Grant rushed in and gently pushed Cherie, who was about to jump up, back down onto the bed. "Cherie, don’t move," she said with concern. "Your body can’t handle it."
Cherie chuckled and snuck a glance at Seth Quinn. Seeing the warning look in his eyes, Cherie immediately sat up straight on the bed. He then turned back to Clara and said, "It’s okay, Clara. I’m recovering now, and the doctor says I’m doing great. In a little while, I’ll be able to move around freely, just like any other kid."
Clara Grant looked him over from head to toe, then studied his face carefully. His complexion did indeed look good, which finally put her at ease. She sat on the edge of the bed and smiled. "That’s wonderful. You have no idea, I was worried sick about you the whole time I was away filming. Seeing you doing so well now is a huge relief."
"Mhm, don’t worry, Clara. You don’t need to worry about me. I’m the one who’s been a burden to you. I have to thank you, and I also have to thank the kind person who helped with my medical bills, Uncle Quinn. While you were gone, he had people take really good care of me. And he’d even come to see me himself from time to time."
Cherie never missed an opportunity to praise Seth Quinn in front of Clara. ’It’s just a little awkward calling my own uncle "Uncle Quinn," though.’
