Chapter 1932 - 472: Replaced and Letting Go (Part 4)
Lorde pursed his lips, his voice revealing no emotion: "He tried to molest the Princess, and I happened to pass by, so I gave him a lesson."
"Alright, I understand. My apologies, Young Master Lorde, for making you come here. I’ll personally escort you out."
"No need." Lorde stood up, slowly buttoning his coat, his stern face unsmiling. As he rose, a wave of authority radiated from him.
He strode out with long steps.
Husi watched as Lorde’s tall figure disappeared through the police station door. One of his men quietly asked: "Boss, was Prince Agunara really killed by Young Master Lorde?"
Husi shot him a glance, "Disaster comes from careless words."
The subordinate hurriedly covered his mouth, glancing around, whispered: "But everyone outside is saying so, claiming that Young Master Lorde killed Prince Agunara because of the Princess, and I’ve heard that this Young Master Lorde is merciless, most ruthless, and that our Princess is so beautiful. They say he took a liking to Her Highness and hence was ruthless with the assassin, and some even say the next victim could be Duke Neo."
Husi curled his lips, "Speaking ill of the Princess, tired of living?"
The subordinate shrank his neck.
"Let’s go, as witnesses, we need to find someone for testimony."
"Who is it?" the subordinate asked curiously.
"What do you think?"
The subordinate frowned, thought for a long time, and suddenly slapped his forehead: "Your Highness... But the other party is a princess, isn’t it inappropriate for us to just approach her...."
"Precisely because it’s the Princess that we have to go...."
Lorde stepped out of the police station as rain soon began to fall, large raindrops pelting his body, instantly soaking his hair and clothes.
His bodyguard immediately held an umbrella over his head, preventing the raindrops from reaching him, which splashed onto the ground, creating blossoming sprays of water.
The phone ring sounded unclear amidst the torrential rain; Lorde halted, took out his phone from his pocket, glanced at the screen, and swiped to answer, placing it to his ear.
"I’ve already contacted Queen, she will send someone to escort you away. Regarding Agunara’s death, I hope you can give me a satisfactory explanation."
Sangque’s tone was somewhat angry.
He knew this matter had nothing to do with his son, but what angered him was that someone had managed to frame him.
His gut feeling had come true; had he not fought Agunara for the Princess, could someone have pinned Agunara’s death on him?
His son was not usually impulsive. Sangque felt heartache, disappointment, and fury; leaving him there had been the worst decision he’d made this lifetime.
Lorde pursed his lips, his face appearing sharper and more severe in the pouring rain.
"I understand."
"Pa" the caller hung up.
Looking at the phone’s darkened screen, Lorde silently put it back in his pocket and walked away.
The bodyguard followed closely beside him; Lorde took the umbrella from him and left alone, his tall silhouette becoming increasingly blurred in the heavy rain.
——
"Hello, I’m Husi, the captain of the police investigation team. I would like to inquire about some details regarding Prince Agunara’s murder, could I meet the Princess? I have already obtained the Queen’s approval." Husi spoke with a gentle smile to the indifferent man standing at the door.
As those cold eyes gazed upon him, Husi’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. Compared to Lorde’s battlefield-honed cool demeanor, this person’s gaze was quieter yet more intimidating.
Husi showed his police badge, the person took a glance and left two faint words: "Wait."
Turning around, he knocked on the door, hearing a gentle female voice: "Come in."
The man pushed the door open and went inside, quickly returning: "The Princess invites you in."
Husi smiled, just as he was about to step inside, the man suddenly extended an arm to stop him. Confused, Husi looked, noticing the gaze fixed on his gun at his belt, immediately realized, removed the gun holster, drew out the hidden knife from his boot, handed it to his subordinate, then proceeded inside.
The room was large and luxurious, a beautiful and magnificent castle, dreamlike.
A large floor-to-ceiling window faced the sea, on the sofa before it lay a young girl, covered by a brown patterned blanket, only an enchanting silhouette visible, captivating the heart.
He dared not look any further, stopping at the room’s entrance: "Your Highness, I apologize for intruding; due to certain details needed for the investigation of Prince Agunara’s murder, I had no choice but to disturb you. I hope for Your Highness’s forgiveness."
