Chapter 498: Talent Extraction And Skill Synthesis
Chapter 498: Talent Extraction And Skill Synthesis
Chapter 498: Talent Extraction And Skill Synthesis
Is it possible that the information I’m asking the system for is way above what I can handle?
Leo thought that was the most likely possibility because he had indeed noticed that, in contrast to its previous complete silence, the system now responded to many of his queries.
So that’s what it is...
Setting that thought aside, Leo immediately began extracting the talent from the other beastcores.
But he did notice that whenever a talent or skill was extracted, no essence was extracted to boost a similar beastcore. In other words, it was a trade-off.
He could get a talent, a skill, or the soul essence—one at a time.
Neither all three together, nor even two. Just one of the three.
He completed the extraction of the remaining 3 cores, out of which only one was successful in talent extraction; the other two gave the skills [Flame Orb], [Fireball], and [Flamethrower]. The last core had given two skills at once.
Ding!
>Talent—[Ashfire Shaman] - 2 star, has been successfully extracted!
"Now it’s a 2-star talent, but of the same kind."
He noticed that he now had 3 different types of extracted skills.
[Fireball] × 4
- The first true fire spell. A fist-sized ball of flame capable of a small-scale explosion on impact. It flies steadily and bursts upon contact, making it useful against lightly armoured foes.
Mana: 10
[Flame Orb]
- A dense sphere of fire formed through intermediate mana control, capable of exploding on impact and producing enough force and heat to injure multiple enemies standing close together.
Mana: 50
[Flamethrower]
- Releases a continuous torrent of raging flames from the user’s hands or weapon, engulfing everything in its path. The sustained stream excels at area suppression, forcing enemies back while inflicting relentless burn damage over time.
Mana: 100
So... if I bestow this skill on an individual without an affinity, will they be able to use it? Leo asked.
>No. Skills without the given elemental affinity are useless. Unless the beast essence itself has been combined with the blessed individual, they cannot utilise the skill.
>Additionally, the same skills that can be used by multiple elements will adjust accordingly to the beings blessed with those skills.
Leo nodded.
It’s like having a very good game to play, but my system cannot handle it.
Leo interpreted it in his own way, recalling the times when he couldn’t play a good game because his PC’s specs were too low back in his previous world.
He also realised that the only reason Shyra could use so many skills with different element was because he had directly assimilated the beastcores into her being. The only instances where he had bestowed skills separately were [Golem Construct] and [Scream].
Of those, [Scream] was non-elemental and depended on the beast’s physical aspect. The second, [Golem Construct], could be used when an individual possessed a hard, physical, elemental-manipulation skill.
Since Howl had Earth Manipulation, earthen golems were formed. If Niri were to receive that skill, the golems would emerge as wooden ones.
"Wait... on that note, doesn’t Howl even have Metal Manipulation? He should be able to form metal golems too!"
Leo suddenly froze as enlightenment struck him.
The only reason he couldn’t make—or had never tried to make—a metal golem was because he lacked the generation aspect of metal. But that didn’t stop him from having metals outsourced.
"Not to mention I even have the 10 tonnes of raw metal that I received from that one colossus in Trial City and Howl!"
Leo’s eyes brightened immediately at the thought. A metal golem would be far superior to a rock golem in durability at the same star realm.
A simple Peak 2-star metal golem made out of adamantium would be able to contend with 3-star beasts or even higher, depending on the circumstances.
But that would require a huge investment. If it were made of iron, a simple 10-meter golem classified as a Pseudo 3-star golem would require more than 100 tonnes. That was an astronomical cost for a single construct.
What Leo didn’t take into account, however, was that a golem made of metal would only need to be about 2 to 3 meters tall to be classified as Pseudo 3-star. Unlike brittle rocks, metals were significantly stronger.
Leaving the matter for another day, Leo returned his attention to the skills and talent.
"So I need to bestow these talents and skills on an individual together. Hmm... 4 fireballs..."
System, can these 4 [Fireball] skills be combined to form higher-tier skills? Leo asked, already convinced it was possible because it had happened before.
>Affirmative. The host’s talents allow skill synthesis. A sub-ability born of the main ability to integrate beast essence into other beasts.
Leo was delighted by that answer.
But he also realised just how much heavy lifting the system did for him. Without it, he wouldn’t know the exact details of the extracted talents or skills. He wouldn’t even have figured out the skill synthesis sub-ability, let alone have access to the user-friendly interface that allowed him to work with both of his talents.
He silently thanked the God-Beast once more and proceeded with the skill synthesis.
Ding!
>[Fireball] + [Fireball] = [Flame Orb]
"Oh? So [Flame Orb] is a higher version of [Fireball]. Interesting... What if I combine the 2 [Flame Orb] skills?" Leo muttered before proceeding.
"Surely it shouldn’t be [Flamethrower], right?"
Ding!
>[Flame Orb] + [Flame Orb] = [Scorch Burst]
[Scorch Burst]
- The explosion radius expands considerably. Flames spread across the ground after detonation, turning the surrounding area into a temporary hazard.
Mana: 500
"Oh! Nice! Now this is interesting. But..."
Leo looked at the mana requirement and immediately realised it was an extremely expensive skill.
If he used the average person with a Common Soul as the benchmark, it was virtually impossible for a Peak 1-star individual to cast it, as their upper limit was only 100 mana units.
Even at Peak 2-star, a person could only cast it once, since they would have exactly 500 mana units. Not to mention they would collapse immediately afterward.
"If they have an Uncommon Soul, the upper limit would be 1000 mana units. At that point, the skill could at least be cast safely once," Leo muttered.
Only then did he realise that synthesising skills without reservation wasn’t necessarily a good thing, and he regretted it after receiving a warning from the system.
>Note: [Scorch Burst] is the maximum limit of the 2-star talent [Ashfire Shaman]. During the skill cast, the user would need to exert all their strength just to handle the skill’s output and would collapse the next moment. It puts them at mortal risk every time they cast the skill.
"Damn..." Leo muttered under his breath.
Now even an Uncommon Soul—or a higher-ranked one—wasn’t enough because the talent itself imposed the limitation on the body.
It was only now that he realised just how many fortunate stars had aligned for him to possess a hidden Mythical Soul that did most of the heavy lifting in the background.
It’s like having a futuristic ultra-performance Gen-7 computer processor in medieval times, where only Gen-1 computer processors exist in general.
Leo thought with a chuckle.
