Chapter 545 - 532: Sincerity
Chapter 545 - 532: Sincerity
There were no more clamorous sounds around, because everyone was focused on their own survival, yet even so, under the Inferior Demon’s frenzied assault, the council group of thirteen lost nearly half, with only seven standing by, barely holding on.
Chen Feng raised his right hand high, gripping a head with a hint of surprise. Li Hongyi, this somewhat pathological ruler who liked to turn people into specimens, had barely managed to mount a defense before his head was severed.
"What happened upstairs?"
"I think I heard Brother Kang shouting for help!"
"Grab your weapons, let’s go check it out!"
Noises came from downstairs, clearly indicating that the guards at the entrance had noticed something was amiss upstairs.
Without needing instructions from Chen Feng, the Undead Mage emerged from a crevice, waving its Bone Staff, and in the next moment, a horrific scene unfolded.
The previously dead bodies rose again. The Inferior Demon’s attack possessed extraordinary destructive power; heads, necks, chests—to suffer such severe injuries, the bodies were nothing short of unsightly.
And now, these people, as if longing for the beauty of the world, unwilling to enter the blood-red Purgatory, crawled up again, but instead of going after their enemies for revenge, they moved toward downstairs, not quickly, but each step was like a giant hammer, pounding into the hearts of the survivors, filling them with dread.
"Brother Li, what is happening?"
"Boss, what’s wrong with you? Where’s your head? Why is your head missing!"
"No, I’m Ah Fei, don’t kill me... I beg you, please don’t kill me!"
"This must be an illusion, run, these people have turned into zombies!"
The crowd downstairs, previously noisy, now spoke in raspy tones. These freshly dead bodies still had some undispersed energy inside them, enough for the Undead Mage to resurrect them with half the power they had in life, more than enough to fend off the guards below.
Though it was unclear what exactly was happening downstairs, the cries for help and sounds of ripping made it easy to imagine the terror those people were facing, as once familiar faces now transformed into the most fearsome of Evil Ghosts—it was truly unimaginable.
Yan Xiu leaned against the corner of the wall, looking dazedly at everything before him, in truth having no idea what had just transpired.
Provocation, murder, resurrection of the corpses, all seamlessly done.
In less than five minutes, this powerful force led by Li Hongyi crumbled completely, and the orchestrators of it all were none other than Chen Feng and that somewhat ditzy girl.
The girl...
Not long ago, Yan Xiu was worried that the girl might be punished by Li Hongyi and turned into one of his cold specimens, but now he realized that his concern was entirely unnecessary.
No!
Not unnecessary, but utterly laughable!
He had actually been worried about such a terrifying monster!
Yan Xiu shook his head, feeling chilled to the bone, as if he were in an empty room, suddenly feeling hands creeping up his neck—that sense of helplessness and fear filled his entire being.
The girl was not human!
Yan Xiu came to a conclusion. His previous judgments had been made entirely in the realm of human thinking. If she were human, the little girl couldn’t be older than seven. Even with apocalyptic changes, how could she be so cruel?
But look at her expression now, even having killed six people, her face showed almost no change—a mask of curiosity as she glanced around, and now, drawn by the head in Chen Feng’s hand, she took a few steps forward and looked up at the trophy her master held.
Without fear or panic, she just broke into a genuine smile, like seeing a neighbor boy catching a fat fish. From her perspective, she only noticed the boy’s skill and ignored the fish’s suffering entirely.
If she were human, a living person, how could she be so cold-blooded and ruthless?
So there’s only one possibility.
She isn’t human at all!
Those countless arms that emerge from her body are the best evidence. Those arms, thin or thick, could have belonged to a burly man, a beautiful maiden, or even a feeble elder, but somehow, the girl had embedded all these arms into her own body.
Yan Xiu was somewhat stunned, hearing some chaotic noises in this bizarre, strange situation—the roars of the undead and the longing of the dead for life. The girl wasn’t human; she resembled a grave housing the deceased, like flowers blooming at a tomb—everyone saw the beauty of her facade, but could not imagine the twisted, ugly bones buried beneath the earth.
He had a vague vision of corpses under that grave, with skin turning rough and bloated, faces pitted and swollen, maggots crawling back and forth in the bodies through eye sockets, nostrils, mouths, becoming even fatter after gorging on flesh.
The Inferior Demon abruptly turned its head.
It noticed Yan Xiu’s expression. This man was peculiar, always staring at it like this.
The Inferior Demon tilted its head, eyes full of curiosity.
It really wanted to cut open his head and see what was going on inside Yan Xiu’s brain.
Yan Xiu’s body tensed. Unlike previous encounters with the Inferior Demon, this was like visiting a Japanese-style house during the day as a tourist, only to be told by a panicked old man at the entrance during a return visit at night that it was a haunted house inhabited by countless Resentful Spirits. How could you possibly feel at ease like during the day?
He was terribly afraid.
Even watching his own brother drown helplessly was not as terrifying as this.
Yan Xiu’s legs were already wobbling; he was terrified and lost.
"Can we talk?"
Chen Feng’s voice came through.
Yan Xiu finally breathed a sigh of relief. He never imagined that his sense of safety would come from the man before him, burning with flames, who had just killed all his companions on a ship and beheaded his leader.
The world must have gone mad.
Yan Xiu was exhausted, collapsing into a sitting position on the ground.
Chen Feng’s flames slowly dissipated. Moments later, the human face reappeared before everyone, his expression calm, as if nothing had happened. But the result? The King of the Sea Curtain was beheaded, and out of thirteen captains in the force, nearly half were slaughtered, leaving only seven survivors.
At this point, the room was stained with blood. Chen Feng held Li Hongyi’s head, Yan Xiu sat on the ground, while the Inferior Demon swung its arms like an Evil Ghost, chilling to the core.
The atmosphere was indeed eerie. The seven didn’t speak, just stood by, but their ashen faces betrayed their extreme panic.
Chen Feng looked at them and casually tossed Li Hongyi’s head at their feet, then said, "Sorry for interrupting your meeting, I’ll keep it simple. My name is Chen Feng, and I’m wandering around with my brothers to grow stronger. I had no quarrel with Li Hongyi, but I need a foothold. You all know the story of the cuckoo occupying the magpie’s nest—I’ve only met you on this foreign land, so you can only blame your bad luck."
Finishing his words, the seven exchanged strange looks, whispering and quietly cursing him. To them, this person was a madman—causing such a bloodbath upon first meeting, and now brushing it off as unfortunate, was utterly unheard of.
Chen Feng scanned the room: "Just one question, I want to take over here. Can you help me stabilize those outside?"
The question was direct. Hearing it, the seven frowned, utterly baffled on how to respond. Barging into someone else’s home, committing mass murder, and now asking for advice on transferring the owner’s assets to himself—how could anyone accept this?
Perhaps because Chen Feng’s demeanor had eased somewhat, making them feel they could communicate, a man with a commanding presence stepped forward, gazing intently at Chen Feng and speaking gravely, "Who exactly are you?"
Chen Feng pointed at the man with his finger, and the Inferior Demon sneered, followed by the sound of tearing through the air, as its numerous arms fiercely ripped the man apart, scattering his limbs onto the ground.
"Wrong answer. Your turn,"
The voice echoed as Chen Feng’s gaze shifted to another person, his face sincere, but under the light of blood, he appeared ghostly, making one extremely uncomfortable.
