Chapter 1885 - 1889: Whatever You Want Me to Do
"Mr. Mo."
The door to the hospital room slid open, and the attending doctor came out with an assistant, smiling as he approached Mo Wenxiu.
Seeing the doctor emerge, Mo Wenxiu immediately stood up.
"Doctor, my daughter..."
"We’ve done a thorough examination; all her indicators are very good. As long as she’s observed in the hospital for one more day and there are no issues, she can be discharged."
"Thank you, thank you..." Mo Wenxiu gratefully shook the doctor’s hand. "Thank you very much, doctor."
"It’s our duty. You should go in and see your daughter. Her physical condition is quite good, but her mood doesn’t seem to be."
"Alright, thank you!"
Mo Wenxiu expressed his gratitude to the doctor once more before letting go of his hand and entering the hospital room.
Inside the room, Mo Bei leaned against the pillow, staring blankly out the window, her face clearly carrying a gloomy expression.
"Xiao Bei." Mo Wenxiu walked up to her. "Are you hungry? What do you want to eat? I heard there’s a new Chinese restaurant nearby, want to..."
Mo Bei turned her face to him. "I want to be discharged."
"No rush, let’s rest for another day..."
"I want to be discharged!" Mo Bei raised her face, looking directly at him with her strikingly clear eyes. "Take me away from here; I don’t want to stay in the United Kingdom."
"Okay, wherever you want to go, Dad will take you." Mo Wenxiu reached out a hand to steady her shoulder. "Dad will arrange the discharge paperwork for you immediately. Xiao Fan, go take care of the paperwork."
Mo Wenxiu’s subordinate named Xiao Fan immediately went to find the doctor to handle the discharge papers.
Mo Bei didn’t say anything more; she simply lifted the covers off her body and swung her legs down to look for her shoes.
"Dad’s got it!"
Mo Wenxiu quickly bent down, retrieved the shoes from under the bed, and slipped them onto her feet.
Once her shoes were on, Mo Bei slowly stood up and walked towards the door, with Mo Wenxiu hastily following, supporting her arm.
Descending the stairs, getting in the car—Mo Bei remained silent throughout, not uttering a single word until they returned to the hotel.
The moment they reached the room prepared for her, Mo Wenxiu looked at his daughter with heartfelt empathy, reaching out to place a hand gently on her shoulder.
"Xiao Bei, if you feel like crying, just let it out."
"What’s there to cry about?" Mo Bei lifted the corner of her lips slightly in a pale smile toward him. "I’m tired, I want to rest."
"Xiao Bei..."
"I don’t want to talk."
"Xiao Bei..."
"Don’t worry, I won’t commit suicide or run away. From now on, whatever you ask of me, I’ll do." Mo Bei looked at him calmly, her eyes full of dull colors. "You want me to marry Brother Ling, right? Fine, I’ll marry him. Whenever you want, you can set the date for the wedding."
Seeing her as if she’d lost her soul, Mo Wenxiu felt nothing but deep regret.
"Xiao Bei, actually Jiao Yang..."
"I want to leave today, the sooner, the better."
Mo Bei calmly interrupted him, turning away and walking towards the terrace.
Watching her back, Mo Wenxiu quietly sighed in his heart.
So be it, but even if he told her Jiao Yang was still alive, what would it change?
She and Jiao Yang were destined to be impossible together; telling her would only add to her anguish. As long as she could get through this ordeal, she would have endless possibilities ahead.
Thinking of this, Mo Wenxiu swallowed the words he had been about to say. "I’ll arrange the plane; you rest for a bit. We’ll leave tonight."
