Chapter 629: Meeting
Chapter 629: Meeting
Without hesitation, she rushed toward him and tightly hugged him from the front.
"It’s alright," she whispered softly while gently patting his head. "Everything will be alright."
The moment Adriana embraced him, something inside Peter finally shattered completely.
If it had been anyone else, he would never have shown weakness.
But with Adriana... he could no longer hold himself together.
Suddenly, his body trembled slightly as tears began falling uncontrollably.
"Why..." he choked out painfully. "Why does he hate me so much?"
His voice cracked badly.
"I’m his own son..." he whispered brokenly. "Can’t he be even a little gentler toward me?"
As Peter continued sobbing quietly, Adriana’s heart ached painfully.
She carefully stroked his hair while holding him tightly.
Peter continued speaking in fragments, as though years of buried emotions were finally erupting.
"I did everything I could," he whispered bitterly. "I tried so hard to earn his attention... his approval... his acknowledgment..."
His fingers clenched tightly.
"But no matter what I did, he never once truly looked at me."
"Why?" he whispered weakly.
Adriana gently rubbed his back soothingly.
"It’s alright," she murmured softly again and again. "We won’t go back to him anymore. Just stay with me."
Hearing those words, Peter faltered slightly.
"I want to," he admitted quietly. "But I still feel guilty somehow."
He slowly pulled away before looking directly into Adriana’s eyes.
"I’ll build my own company," he said firmly despite his red eyes. "One day, I’ll regain everything I lost. But until then..."
A trace of guilt appeared on his face.
"You’ll have to suffer with me."
However, instead of looking worried, Adriana suddenly burst into laughter.
Then she quickly pulled out one of her bank accounts and showed him the balance.
Hundred million dollars.
"Well," she said proudly while grinning mischievously, "with your sugar mommy here, you definitely won’t suffer at all."
For the first time that night, Peter finally laughed softly.
A slow smile gradually appeared on his face.
Soon afterward, Adriana brought him to one of the apartments under her name.
In truth, Aurora had secretly purchased numerous real estate properties under her siblings’ names long ago.
The siblings even mentioned it in front of Aurora and made it seem like a mystery.
Since they never exposed the truth directly, Aurora eventually relaxed and even asked Emily to deliver all the property keys personally to the respective siblings.
After settling Peter into the apartment located on the third floor, Adriana immediately went into the kitchen.
When Peter saw the food placed neatly before him and looked at Adriana’s gentle smile glowing beneath the warm lights, it felt as though honey had slowly coated every painful crack inside his heart.
All the heaviness and sorrow he carried seemed to dissolve little by little.
’Why am I still crying over someone like him?’ Peter thought quietly while watching Adriana move around the kitchen.
He already had someone so kind beside him. Someone who truly loved him.
With that thought, Peter finally relaxed completely and enjoyed the meal peacefully.
After dinner ended, Adriana sat beside him quietly while smiling lovingly.
Peter slowly stood up and walked toward her.
Then he gently cupped her face before kissing her softly.
This time, Adriana did not pull away.
That night, the two of them finally became one completely.
Perhaps Peter desperately needed comfort.
Or perhaps the fear and insecurity inside him had finally reached their limit.
Whatever the reason was, Adriana never stopped him.
Because she understood clearly that, more than anything else, Peter simply needed warmth and reassurance that night.
The next morning, soft sunlight filtered through the curtains quietly.
Adriana hid herself shyly beneath the blanket while Peter sat beside her.
Seeing her hiding face completely under the sheets, Peter could not help chuckling softly.
He gently tugged at the blanket teasingly.
"Why are you suddenly acting so shy now?" he whispered playfully.
The lump under the blanket remained motionless.
"Just yesterday, you were acting so wild in bed," Peter whispered teasingly while leaning closer toward Adriana. "I genuinely thought I had unlocked an entirely new version of Adriana."
The moment those words left his mouth, Adriana instantly glared at him with a flushed face.
"Shut up," she snapped embarrassedly while throwing a pillow directly at him.
Peter burst into laughter.
While the two lovebirds remained wrapped up in their sweet little world, there was someone else far away who was currently drowning in anxiety.
Eliana.
In truth, when Joy suddenly received the opportunity to collaborate with Ms. Dawn, Eliana had immediately taken all the credit for herself.
The reason was simple.
She wanted to elevate her own standing inside the Richardson family.
Moreover, she had assumed that Ms. Dawn would never personally mention whose recommendation had led to the collaboration in the first place.
That was why Eliana had remained completely calm initially.
However, everything changed when she suddenly received news that Ms. Dawn had canceled the original meeting unexpectedly.
Now Joy was continuously questioning her about the situation.
Eliana could only force an awkward smile onto her face while hiding the nervousness inside her heart.
"There’s just a small family issue on Ms. Dawn’s side," she lied smoothly. "Don’t worry. She’ll definitely reschedule the meeting soon."
Deep inside, however, she silently prayed desperately.
’Please don’t expose me...’
To her immense relief, that exact same evening, Joy received another message stating that the meeting had merely been postponed due to personal reasons.
The moment Joy saw that message, his trust in Eliana deepened even further.
"You really are my lucky star," he said happily while hugging her.
Eliana laughed along outwardly, but inwardly, only one thought filled her mind.
’I survived this crisis... at least for now.’
Unfortunately, the days continued passing one after another.
One day passed. Then another.
Yet Ms. Dawn still made no effort to reschedule the meeting.
After an entire week, Joy gradually became anxious.
And so did Mr. Richardson.
After all, despite everything they sacrificed, the Richardson Corporation was still being heavily targeted from every direction.
Meanwhile, Peter had been living an unexpectedly peaceful and blissful life during that same week.
Ever since moving in with Adriana, he practically stayed beside her constantly.
Since he no longer carried the pressure of maintaining appearances before his family, he slowly became clingier and clingier around her.
Sometimes he would suddenly hug her from behind while she cooked.
Other times he would lazily rest his head on her lap while she worked.
Although Adriana often pretended to look annoyed, she secretly loved every second of it.
In fact, she spoiled him shamelessly.
She bought him expensive clothes. She dragged him shopping.
She even pampered him endlessly whenever he looked upset.
Of course, she also established one extremely important condition.
"From now onward," Adriana declared proudly one evening while crossing her arms, "you have to call me sugar mommy."
Peter stared at her for a moment before laughing helplessly.
Then he obediently complied.
After all, the woman spoiling him so affectionately was none other than his first love.
And unlike humiliation, everything Adriana did came purely from love and care.
How could he possibly reject her?
One week later, Aurora suddenly invited both of them to a private meeting room, claiming she wanted to hold a small gathering for them.
The moment Adriana heard that, curiosity immediately surfaced inside her heart.
After all, Peter had already informed her about Ms. Dawn’s suspicious behavior recently, and Adriana could not help wondering what exactly her little sister was planning.
However, not once did Adriana suspect Aurora of trying to harm her.
She trusted Aurora completely.
In Adriana’s eyes, her little sister definitely had some hidden plan behind all this.
Meanwhile, during that same week, Mr. Richardson had officially gone ahead and signed the disownment papers.
From that moment onward, every connection between Peter and the Richardson family had been completely severed.
Mr. Richardson genuinely believed that sacrificing Peter would allow him to protect the corporation from further attacks.
Unfortunately for him... he was horribly wrong.
On the other hand, Joy suddenly received another message stating that the rescheduled meeting with Ms. Dawn had finally been arranged.
The meeting location was set inside a luxurious private room at an elite hotel.
The moment Joy received the news, excitement immediately exploded throughout the Richardson family.
Soon afterward, Mr. Richardson, Joy, and Eliana all arrived eagerly at the meeting location.
However, the moment they stepped inside the private room, their expressions froze completely.
Peter and Adriana were already sitting there together.
The two of them were chatting softly and laughing peacefully as though nothing in the world could disturb them.
The instant Joy noticed Peter, a mocking laugh escaped his lips.
"Well, well, well," Joy sneered loudly. "If it isn’t my dear younger brother."
Peter frowned slightly upon seeing them there.
"What are you doing here?" he asked calmly.
Joy chuckled arrogantly.
"That’s exactly what I should be asking you," he mocked. "This meeting was personally arranged for us by Ms. Dawn. So what exactly are you doing here?"
