Chapter 136 136: Throw Them Out
Chapter 136 136: Throw Them Out
There are no dangerous weapons. There are only dangerous men.
But dangerous men with dangerous weapons, they could conquer the world.
In the meeting for finding the relic, Zane mentioned something out of topic.
"I need a weapon."
But such a private meeting was also taking place somewhere else.
———
At the Emberlord's office.
The white clergyman had changed robes, cleaned himself off Milo's blood.
He sat behind his table and another person sat in front of him on the chair.
It was a student.
Red hair, white skin, golden bracelet and a thin smile.
Behind the student, a man with black coat stood with his hands behind his back.
But no one spoke anything.
They sat waiting for something.
Something that sounds like…
TUD!
A knock on the door.
The student gestured to the man behind him to open the door but the Emberlord raised his hand.
"I will take it. It might be him again."
The student shrugged and Coin went to the door.
He opened it slightly to see who knocked and when he saw it wasn't Zane Atlas, he fully opened the door.
"Come inside. You surely took your sweet time."
Varikh and Kairon bowed, apologized and entered the room.
Coin was about to close the door but he saw someone else coming towards the office.
It was a Priest.
The same priest who was responsible for preparing food for Zane and his people.
Coin kept the door open for the man and when he entered, the Emberlord finally closed it but not before looking left and right.
No one saw them.
He came back to sit on his chair but remained standing.
The Enforcers were surprised to see the student present but they questioned nothing.
If the Emberlord called him, then it would be important and correct.
Coin cleared his throat and looked at the Priest.
"Tell me what you have."
The Priest bowed.
"Cut that out. That's not the time for that."
The Priest nodded, said sorry a couple of times and shared everything he got to know.
"They ate like the filth they were and in the end, Zane Atlas said he will look at the Cameron forest for the relic. He dropped it while hunting for food yesterday."
"That's all?" Coin asked.
"Yes. They left the diner after that."
Coin went silent.
He stroked his chin and sat on the chair.
Then he darted his eyes at the student.
"Why are you here?" He asked and the Enforcers frowned.
The Emberlord didn't call the student here. He came on his own.
The student kept his thin smile.
"I am here to help you."
"How?"
"I know you didn't forgive that man. He came and stepped all over you. He, his friends and a janitor of all people. All of them stopped you from doing what you wanted. If I were you, I would have killed all of them right there."
Coin scoffed.
"Big words for someone depending on their daddy's money."
The student didn't lose his smile.
"You can make fun of me. But like it or not…"
He leaned forward.
"We have a rebellion in our hands."
Coin waved his hand.
"He doesn't have it in him. He is too weak."
"Then why weren't you able to kill him?"
The Emberlord clenched his jaw.
"I have an image to maintain, spoiled brat. He was under an oath. He spoke the truth. There were eyes watching me. I am the face of a religion. I can't execute someone without any concrete proof, not to mention I also have to abide by the laws of the constitution."
"And that's why I am here."
The student leaned back.
"Make your point fast. I don't have all day."
The student nodded.
"My father owns most of the land in Dwarkam. Wherever Zane Atlas will go, I will know. And if I can know that, I can kill him as well."
The student carried on.
"I know for a fact that whatever you were about to plan in this room, it wouldn't involve killing him. At most, you would probably be thinking of making sure he doesn't find the relic in three days so you can accuse him and then kill him in front of everyone."
The Emberlord gave a slow nod.
The student smiled.
"That man hurt your ego. You want to kill him in the same place where your ego lost. The Cathedral. I can understand that. But there is a flaw in your plan."
Coin stayed silent.
The student continued.
"You want to stop him from finding the relic but you also don't know where the relic is in the first place."
"I can find it."
"Who are you kidding, Emberlord? I know your means. You were planning on killing Zane Atlas and asking his soul about the relic's location. But since Zane himself doesn't know where it is, you would have got no answer. That is the only means you have. Nothing else."
The Emberlord said nothing.
"So," the young man added. "Here's my proposal."
All ears perked up.
"I will find Zane Atlas, corner him, and then you will come, and satisfy your ego by killing him."
"Hmm? I can do all that without your help."
"No. You can't."
"Why?"
"You will send someone to follow Zane or you will send someone to keep an eye on him from far. But don't forget, he is not alone. He also has Hena Myreth with him."
"That traitor's girl? What can she do?"
"She can sense gazes. Not to mention her last loyal Scepter from the Frida family always stays with her. And he is strong. Strong enough to stop the attacks from families wanting to become the fourth Crown for many years. So unless you send someone powerful, intelligent and exceptional to look for Zane, you have no chance of knowing his moves."
The Emberlord sighed.
"I can try and find as many loopholes as possible in everything you said. But I am not interested in that. You came to me for a proposal and if it makes my work easier, I will take it."
The student clapped the table.
"Great. Then let's start right now."
He stood from the chair and finally, his thin smile vanished.
"Throw your Enforcers out of here first."
