Chapter 520: Jeff
Jeffery felt streams of cold sweat pouring from his face, as he thought of the possibility of dying by frostbite.
He activated a movement skill immediately to get the advantage...
"Rapid dash!"
He propelled himself forward, powered by blasts of fire mana that boosted his speed greatly. In the blink of an eye, he was already before Dan. He leapt up, dragging his axe overhead, as he struck downwards with all his might.
CLANG!!!
The sound of metal colliding against metal rang out, as Dan has raised his ice gauntlets to block his attack right on time. Sizzling sounds came from the point of contact, as the ice was being melted away due to the fire energy in Jeffery’s attack. However, although the ice was being melted, it was also being regenerated as Dan poured mana from his relatively large sized mana pool. He didn’t even move back half a step.
"Now it’s my turn!"
He took a step back to break contact with Jeffrey who quickly attempted to create distance between them. As he now knew that Dan was definitely stronger than him, he wanted to use his greater agility to his advantage. However, his decision was what helped him stick the final nail in his coffin.
"Icy paths!"
The entire ground in front of Dan instantly as smooth as a mirror. This layer of ice stretched out for 50 meters, and Jeffery who found himself still within that range found it difficult to stand, not to talk of moving out of the way. Dan on the other had moved like he had just swallowed a gallon of energy boosters. He slide across the extremely flat surface like he was skating, and in less than a second, was already before Jeffery with his fist raised high.
He poured in even more mana into the skill before bringing it down like a gavel of judgement. the reason he had chosen to make a blunt weapon was because he wanted to be able to hot Jeffrey without fearing he would take his life mistakenly.
BOOM!!!
CRACK!!!
The frozen ground immediately shattered into a thousand and one pieces, as a massive crater was formed from Dan’s attack. Everyone was in shock, as they watched Jeffery get embedded into the ground like a nail. He didn’t even have the opportunity to use his advanced martial art techniques or whatnot. He was utterly defeated in less than five moves.
"Sh*t! I thought I said not to kill him!" Cain yelled out, as he hadn’t expected Dan’s attack to be so ferocious.
"Don’t worry boss. I held back, so he’s not dead."
Once the dust settled, everyone saw that although his ice encased fist had landed on Jeffery’s chest, it hadn’t really harmed him. Not only had he reduced the force from his fist, but Jeffrey had used an advanced martial arts technique to dispel most of the force from the attack to the surroundings. That was why the aftermath of the attack was so destructive. If not, although he will not have died, he would have sustained some broken ribs at the very least.
Dan moved back a bit as he prepared for round two. It took a while, but Jeffery eventually stood up. When he saw the over 7 feet tall ice encased monster, a tinge of fear could be seen in the depths of his eyes.
’If I hadn’t used force redirection at that moment, I’d have been lucky to get a few broken ribs. This guy’s a monster!’
"This match will he a best of three. Dan has won one, and if he wins the next one, it’s game over."
It was clear that Cain was just trying to extend the match at this point. Although Jeffrey was strong, it was clear to all that he wasn’t as strong as Dan. Some of them wanted to speak out, saying that the match was already over inorder to protect Jeffery, but seeing as he still had some fighting spirit in him, they decided to let it be.
Dan on the other hand, was feeling very excited. A fire he didn’t know ever existed in him was currently burning in his heart, making his blood boil.
He wanted to fight. He was Infront of someone who could be considered a worthy opponent, and the only thing that was running through his mind was the feeling of victory that filled him when his fist drove him into the ground.
He wanted to feel it again!
"Begin!"
This time, Jeffery was more careful. He now knew that Dan was stronger than him, had more levels than him, and was even more tanky than him. He even had on armor!.
But he also had his own advantage, which was his greater speed and agility, as well as his martial arts heritage. He was going to use them to defeat this kid. No one would be allowed to step on his pride, no one!.
As soon as the fight was started, he quickly made as much distance as he could from Dan, getting out of the effective range of {Icy paths}. That way, Dan would not be able to destroy his speed advantage.
"Let’s see how you defend against this!"
He suddenly took a strange stance. How legs were spread out wide, with his left foot before the right one. His muscles bulged with the immense power running through them, as his body began turning red hot like a boiled lobster. His axe also lit aflame, tongues of fire licking the edges.
"Advanced martial technique: Force break!"
He raised the axe overhead, perpendicular to the ground as he growled the name of his skill.
"Mountain Splitter: Fiery Destructive blow!"
Flames exploded from the rear of the axe, as he used all the strength in his arms, and threw his axe towards Dan with all the force his buffed up body could muster. The power of the skill coupled with the strength from the martial art technique made the outcome as devastating as possible. Even Cain was surprised by the amount of power and force behind the attack. However, he wasn’t too worried, as he had more than enough faith in Dan’s strength.
The spinning axe fell towards Dan like a shooting star, bringing along a scorching heat as the friction burnt the air before him. He however, wasn’t bothered.
"Imperial ice robe!"
Suddenly, another layer of crystalline ice was added onto the already bulky body of his transformed ice golem state. He now looked like a machination made of ice. The ice energy around him became even more dense. This skill boosted his defense by a lot, but the most powerful aspect of the skill was that it increased all his ice related skills effects by 200%. This made all his skills even more powerful than they already were. Jeffery didn’t know, but he was destined never to win.
"Ice weapon manifestation!"
Letting out an excited scream, Dan decided to clash head on with the powerful skill. Summoning his gauntlets of ice, he charged at the spinning axe. In less than a second, they clashed...
BANG!!!
The sound of their collision rang out in everyone’s ears, as Dan had grabbed the handle and axe head with his hands. Ice chunks exploded out from his armor, as the the force behind Jeffery’s attack was devastating. However, the fact remained that Dan had stopped the skill in it’s place, and was without a single scratch.
"What the f*ck?!"
Jeffery couldn’t even believe his own eyes. His most powerful skill had been stopped just like that!. How was that even possible?!
Dan threw the hot axe away as steam continued to rise from his hands for a while after.
"Wow... that was really strong. Now it’s my turn! Get ready..."
"Ice weapon manifestation: Frost Javelin!"
Frost energy revolved around his right hand to materialize a meter long javelin that had frosty air being emitted from it’s shaft, all the way to the tip. Taking a step forward, Dan put all his strength into the swing as he launched to javelin towards Jeffrey.
As soon as he did that, a sonic boom instantly went off, and every where the javelin passed, the ground would freeze over before exploding into a thousand shards of ice.
Staring at death approaching , Jeffrey immediately fell into despair. He really wasn’t expecting to be defeated so thoroughly, and now, he would lose his life. He closed his eyes on preparation for his swift death...
"Sigh... Don’t get so carried away, you dummy!"
Jeffery heard a voice coming from before him. There he saw, the figure of a man dressed in black armor, holding onto the thing that nearly claimed his life like it were a mere toy...
