Chapter 519: Mission "System"
Chapter 519: Mission "System"
Though the Scorpius Tribe was only a small tribe of a similar level to the Orion Tribe, the Hydra Tribe had arranged a suitable place for them to stay during the course of the Tribe Competition.
After the man in the lead gave a few instructions to the tribe’s younger members and ordered them not to cause any trouble, he allowed everyone to return to their rooms.
Most of the young generation immediately fell into practice.
They were determined to improve their strength as much as possible before the competition came.
Only in this way could they achieve a higher ranking.
Yet, there was a person among them who was completely different.
It was a young man with an unremarkable appearance.
Constantly glancing around, he surveyed his surroundings several times, only returning to his room after he made sure that there was no one observing him.
Closing the door and sitting on the bed, he rubbed his hands together in excitement.
Then, he softly muttered a few sentences inside his mind, before words began materializing in his field of vision.
...
"Mission System"
"Name: Aaron"
"Strength: Rank 2 (High)"
"Talent: Scorpion’s Poison (D-Rank)"
"Current Missions:
"Compete in the Tribe Competition and win first place. Reward: Rank Upgrade."
"Get closer to Anya. Reward: Rank 3 Weapon."
...
Looking at this information, and particularly at his current strength and the missions at the very end, Aaron’s eyes lit up.
It had only been a few months since he obtained this strange device.
Though he didn’t understand what the title "Mission System" entailed, he knew that this device would publish missions from time to time, urging him to complete them.
At first, Aaron was confused about its existence and didn’t believe the promised rewards.
Yet, after unintentionally completing one of the missions and finding his strength suddenly increase, he understood the truth.
This thing must be a Divine Artifact—the famed weapon of Gods!
Upon that realization, he no longer resisted.
He did everything in his power to complete the assigned missions, and with each success, his strength and combat power would grow.
Although some of the missions were inexplicable, requesting that he do some strange things, he ultimately didn’t mind.
With all his efforts, the ordinary young man with the mediocre D-Rank Scorpion’s Poison talent had secretly become a Rank 2 "powerhouse" in the span of a few months.
After witnessing the miraculous rewards of the Divine Artifact again and again, he had become convinced that no obstacle could stop him.
Aaron could already imagine his bright future.
Becoming a Rank 10 Awakener was only a matter of time. Before long, he would stand at the apex of the continent and become a true God.
Aaron’s breathing quickened at the thought. However, he eventually forced himself to calm down.
As the holder of the "Divine Artifact", he couldn’t let himself get carried away.
He had to focus on the present.
Recalling the two missions available to him at the moment, he began planning his next course of action.
"With my current strength, getting first place in the Tribe Competition is possible. However, it would be better to obtain the promised Rank 3 Weapon."
"My chances of getting first place will improve dramatically in that way."
Thinking of this, Aaron rose to his feet and prepared to go meet Anya—the daughter of the previous Tribe Chief.
"Now that her Tribe Chief is finally dead, no one can stop me.", he couldn’t help but chuckle, and all sorts of fantasies emerged in his mind.
Yet, just as that thought took root inside his mind, Aaron felt his own eyes grow heavy.
Though he tried to resist the urge to fall asleep, he found himself unable to.
Within just a moment, his vision darkened while his consciousness fell into slumber.
His body crashed onto the bed, completely motionless.
The shadows in the corner of the room squirmed.
An invisible barrier materialized around the building, blocking not only sounds but even the investigation of powerful Awakeners and the Nine-Headed Hydra.
A figure emerged from the darkness the very next moment.
With the signature red hair and a pair of crimson eyes, they were none other than Liora.
With her hands clasped behind her back, she approached the unconscious Aaron, stopping only when she was a few meters away.
Her eyes locked onto his figure, and she grew indifferent.
However, she didn’t take any action.
Maintaining a calm expression, she stared at Aaron and spoke up:
"Since you’re here, why don’t you show up? Could it be that you don’t want to meet me?", she questioned in a cold voice.
Nothing happened at first, as though Liora had gone crazy and was speaking to herself.
But moments later, a sigh echoed throughout the room.
A figure emerged from Aaron’s body and hovered above him.
It was a man.
With an old appearance and wrinkles covering most of his face, he looked much like an ancient wizard or the old monsters one would imagine to exist in cultivation worlds.
He looked wise and kind, like the trusted teacher most people would hope to have had.
Unfortunately, Liora knew very well that appearances were deceiving.
For no other reason than she sensed his aura and recognized it.
The man wielded a type of energy that was extremely familiar to her, one that perhaps no people in this world would identify.
It was demonic energy. The man carried the aura of Devils and, more importantly, of the Demon World.
"I never expected that I would meet one of my kind in this remote world. Moreover, it seems that Your Excellency is doing quite well in this world based on your current aura."
"Did you choose to reincarnate in this world? You’re quite fortunate...", the elderly Devil sighed, looking at Liora with envy in his eyes.
Liora raised her eyebrows.
She didn’t ask what he was talking about, roughly guessing the meaning of his words.
Judging by this man’s decision to transform into a System and attach to this young native, it was obvious that he had not chosen to reincarnate in this world, but to descend into it using his actual body.
However, due to the high nature of this world and its extraordinary power, the result was clear.
The other party was at least an Archdevil during his peak. Yet, he was only able to wield a tiny percentage of his total strength.
Even an ordinary Lesser Devil might be able to kill him at the moment.
If he wished to unleash his full strength, he had to transform Aaron into his physical vessel, thus gaining the identity of a native.
This was how Aaron’s "Divine Weapon" came to be.
The missions and rewards were merely part of this Devil’s scheme.
Of course, although Liora realized this, she still had several questions.
Thankfully, the other party’s state and his earlier words showed his willingness to communicate with her.
As such, she didn’t mince her words.
Opening her mouth, she did not beat around the bush but asked directly.
