His Mistress is His Ex-Wife

Chapter 346: Gael’s Dilemma

Chapter 346: Gael’s Dilemma

Gael paced back and forth in his office. He didn’t know what he should feel after discovering Dominique’s illness.

’He is diagnosed with an early stage of stomach cancer. However, he refuses to get treatment. Is he trying to kill himself as repentance for hurting Sabrina?’

He paused for a moment, rubbing his temples. He hated Dominique, but he didn’t wish him to die.

"Should I tell Sabrina about this and let her convince Dominique to undergo treatment?" He asked himself.

He couldn’t decide. Sabrina was going to marry Vladimir in a few days. Getting her involved in Dominique’s matter was inappropriate. However, a life was at stake here.

Gael tugged his hair tightly, regretting his action. He shouldn’t have eavesdropped on their conversation. Now, he was facing a dilemma.

After making up his mind, Gael grabbed his car keys. He decided to visit Sabrina.

Meanwhile, at Sabrina’s penthouse, Vladimir and Sabrina were discussing their wedding preparations with their wedding planner and coordinator.

Sabrina seemed distracted as she was not paying much attention to their words. She just listened while her mind wandered off somewhere.

’I am supposed to meet Dominique today, but my schedule is too tight. I’ll just talk to him tonight.’ She thought.

"Sab, Gael is here to see you." Enzo’s voice snapped her out of her deep stupor.

Vladimir frowned when he heard that. "Is there something wrong?"

Gael smiled at them, scratching his face. "I’m sorry. Am I disturbing you?"

Sabrina quickly stood up. "No. I think we are done with our preparations."

She made her way toward Gael, giving him a friendly hug. Vladimir could only purse his lips, displeased to see another guy hugging his woman.

Despite that, he was reminded by Dominique’s words. He should love the people around Sabrina. Gael was her childhood friend... her savior and best friend.

"I’ll send them off," Vladimir volunteered, escorting the wedding planner and coordinator.

"Thanks, V," Sabrina said with a grateful smile.

"I’ll prepare some snacks," Enzo chimed in before heading to the kitchen.

Sabrina invited Gael to sit down. "What brings you here?"

"I just dropped by to see you. Your wedding is going to push through. Does it mean Dominique already signed your divorce papers?" Gael asked her expectantly.

Sabrina nodded. "Yes. He agreed. But he is going to give it to me by next week. Once everything is settled, Vladimir and I will hold our wedding ceremony. I decided to make it simple. I only invited our families and friends."

Gael smiled. He was trying to find a chance to bring up Dominique’s illness. However, he didn’t know where to start.

"Will Dominique attend your wedding? Did you invite him?"

Sabrina was stunned for a moment. She hadn’t thought about it.

’Can I make a wedding vow in front of Dominique? I don’t think so. I will just feel uncomfortable if he is going to be there... watching our wedding ceremony. It doesn’t feel right,’ she thought, lowering her gaze.

Gael could sense that Sabrina was having conflicting thoughts about it. ’Damn! I shouldn’t have brought it up. But how should I tell her about his illness?’

"Ahem, Sabby, do you still care about Dominique?"

His sudden question caught her off guard.

"Why are you suddenly asking me this, Gael?" She asked back, feeling puzzled. Gael kept mentioning Dominique in their conversation.

Gael smiled awkwardly. "I honestly... I saw Dominique earlier... in the hospital. I wonder if he is sick... He doesn’t look well."

A trace of concern flickered in Sabrina’s eyes. "What happened to him?"

She remembered that Dominique lost control of himself. She wondered if it was caused by his traumatic experience in the past.

"Is he not feeling well?"

Gael watched Sabrina’s reactions. He just confirmed that she still cared about Dominique.

’Maybe she can try convincing Dominique to undergo treatment. Even though they are not going to end up being together, Dominique is still Aaron’s father. He must live.’

Gael was about to reveal Dominique’s illness to Sabrina when suddenly they were interrupted by Vladimir.

"Gael, what are you discussing? Care to share it with me?" Vladimir butted in, sitting down next to Sabrina.

Before Gael could say a word, Sabrina gave him a warning look as if she were telling him not to mention Dominique’s name in front of Vladimir. Getting her message, he understood what he needed to do.

"Oh, I’m just congratulating her for her upcoming wedding. Please take good care of my best friend."

Vladimir’s lips curled up into a faint smile. "Of course. I’ll take care of her. I won’t make her cry."

"I feel at ease now," Gael responded.

’Maybe, I should tell her some other time... when Vladimir is not around.’

With that thought in mind, Gael decided to leave, not wanting to disturb the couple any further.

"I must leave now... I’ll visit again next time. Please update me if the final date of your wedding is set."

"Huh? You are leaving already. You haven’t eaten your snacks yet. I prepared this just for you, bro," Enzo said, showing up from the kitchen.

"Fine. I’m going to stay. I’ll go once I have my fill." He chuckled, going back to his chair.

Enzo, Vladimir, and Gael chatted for a while. Sabrina excused herself, leaving the three men in the living room.

When she entered her room, she picked up her phone to message Dominique. To her surprise, Dominique had already sent her a message.

[ Sabrina, are you free? Can we meet today? There is something important I must tell you. ]

Sensing the urgency in his message, Sabrina didn’t hesitate to agree. Besides, she was also worried about him. She wanted to see him as well.

[ Yes. I’m available. Where are you? I can go and meet you now. ]

Sabrina quickly changed her clothes as she waited for Dominique’s reply. When her phone beeped, she hastily looked at his message.

[ See me in my apartment. ]

After knowing their meeting place, Sabrina stepped out of her room, holding her car keys.

"Gentlemen, I have to go somewhere. Please watch over Aaron and Kimmy on my behalf."

"Do you want me to drive you?" Gael volunteered so that he could be alone with her.

But Sabrina politely refused him. "No need. I’ll meet Lanny. It’s a girl’s bonding," she said as an excuse.

When she mentioned Lanny, Vladimir could no longer object.

"Don’t forget to update me on your location," Vladimir said, acting as a protective fiancé.

"Yes, Boss!" Sabrina replied playfully.

Enzo and Gael just burst out laughing.

"C’mon, Bro. She is not a kid," Enzo said, teasing him.

"So true, let her enjoy her moment. She will be your wife in a few days." Gael chimed in.

"Why do I feel like you are ganging up on me?" Vladimir hissed, lifting an eyebrow.

Sabrina could only shake her head as she watched the three men bicker with each other.

"Hmm. I’m in a hurry. Don’t forget about Aaron and Kimmy! Pick them up from school!" She reminded them again.

"Don’t worry, Sab. I’ll fetch them later. Just go ahead. Don’t make Lanny wait for too long," Enzo said, waving his hand.

"Thanks, Bro! See you later."

Sabrina glanced at Vladimir one last time. She suddenly felt guilty for lying to him again.
