Chapter 349: Dull and Lifeless
Chapter 349: Dull and Lifeless
Sabrina gasped and snapped her eyes wide open, covering her mouth. She was shocked beyond belief after hearing Dominique’s revelation.
’Is it true... My father is innocent. He has nothing to do with the death of Dominique’s family. Does it mean... I was right all along about my father. He wouldn’t kill people just for the company.’
Seeing her in a trance, Dominique quickly dropped to his knees as he began apologizing to her.
"I’m so sorry, Sabrina. It was all my fault. You and Enzo suffered because of my mistake. But I’m really glad to know that your father is innocent. Please forgive me... I know I can no longer turn back time and change everything. All I can do is to repent for my sin..." he lowered his gaze, clenching his fists to his sides.
"This is why... I’ll do anything just to make amends with you. I’m giving you your freedom. And I promise... I will no longer bother you."
Sabrina merely looked at him. She didn’t know how she would react to his every word. Part of her felt relieved since her father had been proven innocent. Another part of her was upset and frustrated about Dominique.
She folded her fingers into fists and began hitting his shoulders.
He just allowed her to punch him, accepting her punishment. He knew this was not enough to make her feel better.
’Does she hate me a lot?’
"Fine! Everything is your fault. Since you already made up your mind, I wouldn’t interfere anymore. Just do what you want. You’ve already paid off your debt to my family. Knowing that my father is not a murderer is enough for me. I couldn’t ask for more. I don’t have to carry the guilt of my father’s crime because he was innocent all along." Sabrina tried her best to put on a brave front.
"Thank you for sharing this truth with me," she added.
She had no right to stop Dominique from avoiding her. If this was his way of repenting, then she should respect his decision. After all, they were over.
"I guess... This is our goodbye, Dom. We will go our separate ways. Let’s forget about the past..." she declared, yet her heart wanted to protest.
Dominique remained kneeling in front of her and nodded. "Yes. Let’s forget and move on. You should be happy... and have a fresh start. Thank you, Sab... for everything."
Her chest tightened once more as Dominique bade her goodbye. He looked so determined. His decision was final.
She finally turned around to leave. But her footsteps were moving slowly. It seemed that she was hoping for him to stop her from leaving.
However, Dominique didn’t make a move. He remained still, just kneeling and staring at the floor.
Sabrina subconsciously gritted her teeth. ’I thought his feelings for me were stronger than I imagined. But I was wrong. This time... he will no longer chase me. He chose to stay away from me... because of his guilt.’
When her hand reached the doorknob, her heart throbbed once again. She felt reluctant to leave.
’I have no reason to stay. Someone is waiting for me at home. Vladimir,’ she reminded herself.
Gripping the divorce agreement in her hand, Sabrina pushed the door and left.
When he heard the closing sound of the door, Dominique raised his head; his gaze lingered in the direction where Sabrina vanished.
"Thank you, Sab... for letting me see you for one last time."
After gathering his emotions, Dominique stood up, heading to his room. He walked toward his wardrobe and picked up a small suitcase.
He already packed his stuff, and he was leaving this apartment tonight. He had one last mission to do: avenging his family’s deaths against Alfonso William and stopping his plan of bombing Sabrina’s wedding.
He picked up a pistol from his vault and placed it inside his backpack. He also prepared black leather gloves, a jacket, a mask, and a cap. He also checked his bullets and available ammo.
When he was done packing everything, Dominique called Miguel’s right-hand man.
"I need your help. Can you provide me with some explosives? I’m gonna use them for revenge. Please don’t let Don Miguel know about this," he instructed him.
"Okay, Sir Dom. Noted. I’ll send them to you," the man responded from the other line.
"Good. See me at this address."
"Do you need anything more, young master?"
"I want you to tail Alfonso Williams. Monitor his movement 24/7," he commanded.
"I got it, Young Master. Just leave this to me. Don Miguel instructed me to assist you with all your needs."
After giving Miguel’s subordinate final instructions, Dominique left his apartment.
Aside from his luggage and a backpack. He also brought his old guitar with him.
On the same night, he met his attorney.
"Is my Last Will and Testament ready?" Dominique asked.
"Yes. Sir. I prepared everything." The attorney responded. "Sir, are you sick?" he asked curiously.
"I have cancer," Dominique nonchalantly responded as if he were just talking about the weather.
The attorney was dumbfounded, unable to utter a word.
"Is it a late stage?"
Dominique just nodded.
"Here." He handed the old guitar to his attorney. "On the day of Sabrina’s wedding, send my last will and testament and this guitar as part of my wedding gift."
The attorney could only bob his head. "Yes, Sir. I understand. I will deliver this to your ex-wife and son."
"Good. Please don’t tell anyone about my illness." Dominique reminded him.
"Yes. Sir... I won’t."
Dominique smiled, grabbing the Attorney’s shoulder. "Thank you for serving me all these years. I owe you. Please send my regards to your wife and kids. I also prepared a gift for them."
The attorney gave him a sorrowful look. He still wanted to ask him about his illness; however, he could sense that Dominique didn’t want to talk about it.
’Is my Boss really dying? I can’t believe this... And now, he is left alone. His ex-wife is marrying another guy. His son will get a new stepdad. Is this the reason why his eyes seem dull and lifeless? He doesn’t want to live anymore.’
