Chapter 353: Father and Children Reconcilation
Chapter 353: Father and Children Reconcilation
SLAM!
Lanny bolted into his brother’s room. She saw him sitting on the edge of his bed, staring blankly through his window.
"VLADIMIR IVANKOV!" She called out, charging in his direction.
Lanny quickly grabbed him by his collar.
"What the hell are you trying to do here? Sabrina and I waited for you in the Civil Courthouse. But you never came. Then you told Sabrina to postpone your marriage registration without giving her any explanation. Have you gone nuts? I thought you were dying to marry her! What’s wrong with you?"
She continued lashing out. But Vladimir just remained silent.
Lanny gritted her teeth, having an urge to punch her brother. But she suddenly stopped after noticing something.
Vladimir reeked of alcohol, and he looked like a mess. His fists were still covered in blood. Her irritation was quickly replaced by concern.
"What happened to your hands? Did you get into a fight? Did you get drunk last night?" She bombarded him with a series of questions.
Vladimir’s expression turned more ashen. His eyes were so dull and empty.
"I want to marry her... I am dying to marry her... but I feel like... I am still not enough for her... so... I decided to postpone our marriage registration today... to give her more time." His voice was filled with deep sorrow.
Lanny was momentarily stunned upon hearing his words.
"What do you mean?" She asked him in confusion.
Lanny finally released him from her grip as she sat down next to him. This was the first time she saw her brother looking so vulnerable.
Meanwhile, Vladimir lowered his gaze while clenching his fists.
"Sabrina has been meeting Dominique behind my back."
Lanny gasped in surprise. "Huh? Is that true?"
He just nodded.
But Lanny immediately brushed it off. "Maybe she was just trying to convince him to sign the divorce papers. She might have kept this from you because she knew you would get jealous." She tried to console Vladimir.
He slammed his eyes shut. He just wished Lanny’s words were true. But he couldn’t ignore the fact that Sabrina didn’t look well for the past few days. He could feel that she wasn’t happy at all.
"What if Sabrina still has feelings for Dominique?" Vladimir voiced his concern.
Lanny quickly narrowed her eyes at his remarks. "Are you stupid? She already chose you, didn’t she? She is going to marry you. Why are you still hesitating? Furthermore, Dominique has already given up, letting her go."
Vladimir covered his face with his hands. "I don’t know anymore. I think... We both need some time to think it over before our wedding ceremony. I’m also giving her space to figure it out."
Lanny could only sigh in defeat.
"Fine. If that’s what you want, I won’t argue anymore. But as long as Sabrina wants to continue this marriage, you don’t have to overthink and just focus on your happiness."
"I’m just here to support both of you," she added, gently patting her brother’s shoulder.
"Thanks, Lanny."
"Come. Let me treat your wound first."
The two of them were suddenly interrupted by the ringing sound of Lanny’s phone.
Lanny picked up her phone from her pocket only to find her father’s caller ID on the screen.
She was taken aback for a moment. She even showed her phone screen to Vladimir.
"V! Dad is calling me..."
Vladimir’s eyebrows twitched as he stared at the phone. "Just answer it."
He remembered the conversation he overheard between Dominique and Miguel.
’Is our father really considering to reconcile with Lanny and me because Dominique has convinced him to do so?’
Meanwhile, Lanny finally pressed the answer button while putting the phone on loudspeaker mode.
"H-Hello?" Lanny stammered a little from nervousness.
"Where are you?" Miguel’s authoritative voice was heard on the other line.
"I’m in my brother’s place. Why?" She asked.
"Both of you, come to my villa now. I need to talk to you," the old man said in his commanding tone.
Vladimir bobbed his head, signaling his sister.
"Understood," Lanny replied before hanging up the phone.
"What does he want from us?" Lanny turned to her brother.
"We will find out once we see him," Vladimir nonchalantly replied.
He already had a hint of why their father summoned them to his villa. But he decided to keep it from Lanny in the meantime.
Vladimir took a quick bath, and Lanny treated his wound. After that, the siblings headed to Miguel’s villa. His underling ushered them inside. Miguel was already waiting in his study room.
"Boss, they are here," the man said, informing Miguel.
"Let them in," he commanded.
Vladimir and Lanny entered the study room. Both of them were quiet, just observing their father.
Miguel motioned for them to sit down. They immediately complied.
"Why did you summon us here?" Vladimir broke his silence.
Miguel darted his gaze back and forth between his son and his daughter. Lanny couldn’t help but swallow hard, sensing her father’s intense gaze.
"I’m here to take back my words... I’m no longer disowning you. After all, you are both my biological children. I admit that I overreacted. I realized... I couldn’t sever our ties. I also missed my grandchildren..."
Lanny and Vladimir were dumbfounded upon hearing that. It looked like their father had truly regretted his decision.
"I will no longer force you to marry someone for the sake of our alliance. I am now giving you the freedom to choose the one you truly love. I will no longer intervene in your decision. But I expect you to continue leading our clan. Can you still do that?"
Lanny and Vladimir exchanged glances with one another. They still couldn’t believe that Miguel was now letting them decide what they wanted. He only asked them to continue serving the Ivankov Clan. Was this for real? Their father had suddenly become soft.
Since the two siblings were still too shocked to utter a word, Miguel continued speaking to them.
"As for Vladimir... I am giving you my blessing. I am going to welcome Sabrina and Aaron as part of our Ivankov Clan. I’m no longer against her. I’ll support your marriage with her. As for you, Lanny... I’m also accepting Enzo as Kimmy’s father."
"And lastly, I would like to apologize for being harsh to both of you. I might be a great leader of the Ivankov Clan, but I admit, I had so many shortcomings as your father."
This time, Lanny was not able to hold her tongue.
"Father, are you okay? Are you dying or something?"
Vladimir had the urge to facepalm when he heard his sister’s remarks. She really knew how to ruin the moment.
Meanwhile, Miguel looked at his daughter for a moment before bursting into a peal of laughter. He couldn’t blame her. He knew that Lanny could hardly believe that he had just apologized to them. He had never lowered his pride to them, except today.
"Don’t worry, Brat. I am certainly healthy. I’m not yet dying."
Lanny still eyed him suspiciously, refusing to believe him.
"Are you an impostor? Pretending to be our father?"
This time, Vladimir quickly covered Lanny’s mouth.
"Shut up, Lanny, or else our father will kick us out for real!"
