Chapter 161: The Big New Year’s Party
Chapter 161: The Big New Year’s Party
It had been two days since Raiden sold his berries, and he went back to his usual life.
He woke up in the morning. Fed the sheep. Took care of the trees, practised creating Terra Cubes a little bit. Then relaxed the rest of the day while watching Woolie and Neva play, while drinking mango juice under the tree.
"Slurrp~ Ah. This is life." Raiden lay down on a reclining chair, slurping his smoothie as he looked at Neva, who was doing target practise with her light swords.
Her target: Woolie, the big brother.
Boom! Boom! Boom!!
If one ignored the explosions going off in the background, the life kind of seemed pretty satisfying to him. All he had to do was lie down all day long, and he would reach Super Saiya—Gold Tier Battle Master pretty soon.
As for the rest of the world, what has that got to do with him??
"Big brother!! There you are, lazing around again! Don’t you have anything better to do??" A shadow appeared in front of him, blocking his view of the ongoing fight.
"Why are you so upright, my dear little sister? Here, come sit with me. Rest." Raiden grabbed her by the hand before pulling her down beside him on the chair.
He then magically brought out a hat and sunglasses before putting them on her face and handed her the drink.
Sylvia blinked her eyes. One second, she was turning. Next, she found herself sinking into the comfortable chair as slightly warm wind blew across the farm.
"This...is not bad." She admitted in a little voice.
"I know, right!! We are getting the prime seats to front row entertainment. What more do you want? It’s a holiday. Just relax a little, my dear little sister, or you will fry your brain. Then it will go boom~"
Raiden pulled out another chair for himself before resting on it.
Sylvia almost nodded in reply, but then remembered her purpose.
"Wait, no, we need to start preparing! The guests are going to be here any time soon!! Why are you still lazing around for?!" Sylvia reluctantly got out of her seat before she started to shake him awake.
"Oh yeah...the guests. Almost forgot about them. Damn it! Why did I invite them in the first place?" Since it was his first New Year in this world, Raiden had gotten pretty excited and invited almost everyone he knew to a New Year’s party.
But three days had passed since then, and he had already lost all his energy and motivation to party by now. He felt like an introvert who agreed to go out a few days ago, but felt his social battery go down by the day of the trip. He even thought about cancelling it, but that would have been just too rude.
"Go, get to cooking!! Or do you want me to cook?!"
"No, don’t cook!! I’ll go do the cooking, alright? You just stay here and keep an eye on these two rascals." Raiden reluctantly got up and started walking towards his house. The last thing he needed today was a demolished house.
After walking inside the home, he pulled out the fermented dough that he had set aside for today.
Putting on some lo-fi music, he started bringing all his appliances outside the house and setting up his cooking station.
He pulled up his sleeves and put on his Woolie print apron, ready to make some good food.
Since he had invited about ten people over, he decided to make a mix of different cuisines.
He decided to make some Korean, Japanese, Indian, and Italian food.
He set up his own tandoor. Started kneading the dough to make pizza bases, and set them aside for a little rest.
Next, he needed more dough to make some hand-cut noodles, some pasta and set up a grill of his own before getting started with a broth.
He took his sweet time to do all the preparation since he was working alone, humming to himself while cooking.
By that time, he was done preparing for everything. It was already late afternoon.
At some point in time, all three foodies in his house had stopped fighting and were standing on the side watching him cook while drooling, filling their mouths.
"Woolie Woo!!" Is it ready yet, human?? I am hungry. (✧﹃ ✧)
"No, not yet. Besides, we can’t eat right now before the guests arrive anyway. So stop thinking about it." Raiden spoke in a stern tone, causing all three foodies to groan.
"But big brother...your little sister is hungry!! You won’t starve your cute little sister like this, will you??" Sylvia tried to use her puppy dog eyes on him, but his heart remained unmoved.
"I already fed you a heavy breakfast and lunch on top of all the snacks, and not just you, all three of you. Stop eating so much, or you will turn into a fatass. Now go and get ready. Your friends should be here any second now. Also, take these two with you and give them a bath. Look at them covered in mud."
"Finee!! Humph...mean little Raiden, just wait until Aunt Ruby wakes up from hibernation, then we will see how you boss me around!!" Sylvia picked up Neva and Woolie, who were covered in dust from head to toe, and carried them to the bathroom.
Raiden shook his head at her antics before finishing the last of the food prep.
Next, he pulled out some tables and chairs and a canopy before decorating it all with lights and flowers, creating a cosy little space.
"All right, that’s done. Now all I need to do is get ready to receive people. They’ll be here any minute now."
After taking off his apron, he walked into the house and got into a shower, getting ready to receive guests.
Just as he was getting ready for everything, a loud shout rang out from below.
"Raiden!! Look outside!! Look up in the sky!!"
Hearing this, Raiden craned his neck out of the window, only to find a jet-black fighter jet floating above the farmhouse!!
