Chapter 533: Foolproof Plan To Eliminate The Threat
Chapter 533: Foolproof Plan To Eliminate The Threat
(Author’s POV)
"Well, well, well~ .... look who has finally decided to come to us," Brian Tape spoke, his tone tinged with a hint of mockery. "The traitor is here."
The person standing in front of him remained completely unhinged as a cocky smile spread across his lips. "Just came to see some old friends. Can’t I?" His eyes darted from Brian to Catherine. "Long time no see. Did you miss me, Richards?" He was wearing a deep maroon, velvet textured cloak, which was concealing half his face. The back of the cloak was emblazoned with a silver pattern; the same design Myra had drawn in her notebook.
Catherine’s eyes narrowed as Brian sneered and spat, "You freak~ .... stay in your lane. Don’t you fucking blabber nonsense in front of Elder Richards. Else I’ll pull that filthy tongue of yours out with a pair of pliers."
"Haha~ ..." the person wasn’t intimidated one bit. Instead, he couldn’t help but scoff lightly at Brian’s stupidity. "Tape~ .... Tape~ .... After all these years, you still haven’t changed one bit. Still being Richards puppy, wagging your tail around her. How cute~ .... just adorable."
As short tempered as Brian is, he banged his hand on the handrest of the chair, making a crack in the wood and got up abruptly; the heavy chair keeled on one side, "You bastard~ .... fucking imbecile. Dare to insult me, the ruler of the Nocturne Coven Clan and the Vampire Elder. You deserve to~ ...." Before he could complete his cussing threat, he was thrown off by a sudden force of wind which came from nowhere. He was flung backwards, his shoulders colliding with the wall with a deafening thud.
Catherine’s eyes flickered as she flicked her eyes back and forth between the two men. She was shell shocked to see such a tremendous display of immense power. ’I knew, back in the day, he held substantial power. But is he really the same guy?’ The cloak covered person, merely by the flick of his wrist, had made Brian Tape, one of the stalwart vampires, bite the dust. Of course, anyone would be stunned.
Seething with raw rage, Brian roared, the corner of his mouth trickling with blood, "ARGHHHHHH~ ...HOW DARE YOU~ .... BROOKS~ .... I’m going to~" He was ready to throw hands, but Catherine’s voice echoed through the hall, making his actions stop, "BRIAN~ .... ENOUGH."
"But Elder Richards~ .... did you not see what he~ ...." Brian was still adamant on his stance. After all, his ego was thoroughly bruised and battered by that one move. And that too in front of his beloved Catherine.
"I SAID ENOUGH~ .... Am I not clear? Don’t make a fool of yourself as well as I," Catherine remarked sharply as she drilled her eyes into his staunch devotee. She then casually shifted her attention towards the person named Denver Brooks~ .... "Take a seat first, Brooks."
Denver’s smile widened as he languidly walked towards the empty chair, which was reserved for Catherine’s deputy. "That’s more like it," he commented, crossing his legs without a care, like he owned the place.
Though Catherine, who remained seated in a prim, proper and elegant manner, was pissed at him, she didn’t utter a single word about his vulgar etiquette. Instead, she said, her voice commanding, "So~ .... why did you come to us now? After betraying us~ .... you are walking right into my territory. Isn’t that quite bold of you, Brooks?" She leaned back, observing his body language.
Denver matched her energy, tapping his fingers on the handrest as if he were playing a piece of music on a piano; he countered, "Should I be afraid of you, Richards?"
"Why not? When that Jacob Larson was just inches close from ceasing to exist, you stepped in and spilt water on our plans. One command from me~ .... and my coven will not just suck the blood out of your veins, they will tear your flesh and bones to pieces, like shredded paper," Catherine mouthed with a hint of agitation. She had pulled every string in the book to orchestrate the plane crash, buying off the pilot and co-pilot and a few of the aviation maintenance staff, but still, after doing all that, Jacob was living, breathing in his mansion. And not just that~ .... he was daringly eager to name his successor~ .... that filthy, gutter rat~ .... Fabian. That thought alone was infuriating her to the core.
"Easy~ .... Richards, easy. I helped you, and you are attributing acquisitions to me? That ain’t right, my dear. Instead, you should be thanking me here. *Tch~ tch~ tch~* I’m rather disappointed by you," Denver shook his head with a disapproving tone.
"What do you mean by help? Don’t beat around the bush," Catherine muttered.
Brian, who had finally recovered from the sneak attack, limped his way to the other side of Catherine. Settling down, he said, "Elder Richards, don’t believe a word out of his mouth. He is just a two faced magician, trying to play with us."
"Tape, I think it is better for you to shut that trap of yours. You are ruining my mood," Denver said and snapped his fingers.
Brian tried to open his mouth again, but strangely enough, no voice came out.
"Now, now. He can’t disturb us with his prickly mouth; let’s get to the point," Denver spoke, unfazed. "Richards~ .... if Jacob had died in the plane crash, what do you think would have happened? Huhhh?" He continued, "Do you think you would be taking over the throne that easily? Do you think the vampire community would have let the incident go just like that? Do you think they wouldn’t have suspected a damn thing? If you think like that, you are utterly wrong. Even if you snatch the seat away, they won’t follow your orders. They might even rebel."
"So~ .... should I watch that idiotic king give away the right to command the vampire army to a mutt?" Catherine snapped.
"Richards, I was under the impression you were a wise one. I guess I was totally wrong. You are missing the big picture," Denver shook his head once again. He then leaned forward, his tone peculiar, "If I tell you~ ... I have a plan. A foolproof plan to not just eliminate the threat of Fabian Stephens but also Jacob Larson, on his own will, will crown you as the next successor. Sounds interesting? What do you think?"
