Chapter 550: The Cuckoo Who Strikes
Chapter 550: The Cuckoo Who Strikes
(Author’s POV)
"Vienna, your sister’s in danger. We need to save her," Garry said to her when he saw her sniffling. Her face was pale, her eyes bloodshot. He thought she had finally come to her senses, and her guilty conscience was catching up to her. Actually, seeing her like that~ ... anyone would have thought like that.
She stopped her sobs midway and looked up. Meeting him dead in the eye, she blurted, "What are you talking about? Danger, what danger? Save that bitch of a sister from what? That attention seeking rat is having the best time of her life with~ ... my boyfriend." She was seething with every syllable that came out of her mouth, her eyes blazing. "If not necessary ~.... I wouldn’t have let that rotten mutt even near my Danny. He is mine~ ... and mine alone."
Garry was stunned, his eyes expanding. He couldn’t believe such a sweet, young girl could have such a cold heart, vile thoughts and a poison laced tongue towards her own blood sibling. She wasn’t the least bit remorseful for Amelia’s safety; instead, she was envious of her. He knew now Vienna Clinton was a total maniac who didn’t have even an ounce of sympathy for her sister.
He wanted to teach her a lesson, but right now, saving Amelia was his top priority. So, he spat, "Fine~ .... I will do it myself." He had barely taken two steps when she lunged onto him like a panther with her claws out, holding him from behind, screaming, "YOU ARE NOT GOING INSIDE."
"LET~ ... GO OFF ME," Garry tried to shove her away, but she was holding him with an iron grip, her freshly manicured, blade like nails dug into his forearms as blood spilt out from there.
"NOOOOO~~~~~ .... I won’t let you ruin Denver’s plan," she was hysterical at this point. With no choice left, he shook her off violently as her head banged into the side wall. A trail of blood painted on the pristine white background as she lay on the floor, seemingly senseless. Garry gulped and wanted to check her, but then he started making his way towards the altar room. Just when he was about to open the door, he felt something solid hitting the back of his head.
With shaking hands, he touched the area and saw his hand was covered in dark, liquid crimson. His trembling eyes looked at Vienna, who had a sledgehammer in her hand. He could tell she was shuddering, barely able to hold the weapon, but she was ready to strike him again. "I SAID~ ... YOU. ARE. NOT. GOING. IN."
Saying that, she raised her hands and, in a semi circular motion, pummeled Garry on the skull once again. Due to the second clobbering, his knees buckled, his eyes rolled backwards as he collapsed on the floor, blacking out completely.
He woke up to the smell of disinfectant and multiple sounds of people talking. Drowsily, he opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was a few blurry faces looking at him. He blinked and shook off the haziness and realized it was his eldest son and his daughter in law, Jeffery and Liliana Yates.
"Dad, you are finally awake. Are you~ ... are you alright? How are you feeling? Do you feel dizzy? Lily~ .... go, go and call the doctors, quick," Jeffery inquired. Liliana rushed out to do as he said.
Instead of answering, Garry asked, his voice hoarse, "Jeffery, wh~at~ ... are you doing here?" The last he remembered was him standing in Denver’s house and the confrontation with that girl, Vienna.
"Assistant Robin called me and told me everything. We can talk about that later," Jeffery muttered, holding his anger back. Soon, Liliana returned with the doctor in charge. He asked a few questions, checked his vitals, and then, after giving instructions, departed.
Once all the outsiders were gone, Garry queried again. This time, Jeffery spat, "We know what you have been doing, Dad. Do you have any idea when I received Robin Carcello’s call, how I felt then? You have been in a coma for a whole week now."
Liliana stopped her husband, "Jeff~ .... Dad has just regained consciousness. We can talk about this afterwards. Right now, he needs to rest." He was getting too worked up.
Jeffery said, "Fine~ ... but, Dad, you need to cut ties with those people, for good," Jeffery warned, his eyes misty. Feeling frustrated, he walked out of the room, thumping his feet.
Liliana looked at an ashamed Garry. He couldn’t even look her in the eye. In a soft tone, she said, "Dad, Jeff and I have been worried sick for you. Even after the surgery, your life was in danger. He hadn’t left your side for even a minute. Getting involved~ ... in human experiments~ ... we both were shocked to hear it. Jeff is right, you need to terminate any sort of deal with them."
"What about Diana? Does she know?" Garry asked.
"Mother doesn’t know yet. Her health had just stabilized, so Jeff and I decided to keep it from her and Henry," she conveyed.
Garry nodded with relief. Soon, Robin Carcello, his then assistant, came to visit him and filled him in on all the necessary details.
On the night of the blue moon, after not being able to contact him for a while, thanks to the tracker he had hidden in his shoes, Garry’s men searched and found him, bloodied and half dead in the dark forest.
Brian’s people must have dumped him there at the mercy of the wild animals. They quickly took him away and admitted him to the hospital. Unfortunately, due to the fatal injury, he had lost quite a lot of blood, and there was no match in the blood bank. So, with no choice left, Robin had to contact Jeffery, who, coincidentally, had come to meet a guest lecturer in a neighbouring city. Liliana, a professor herself, was present with him.
After the transfusion was done, Jeffery kept pressing the assistant for answers. At first, he tried to conceal the truth, but the constant pressure and his boss’s condition made him slip up. He told them that Garry was part of an organization who did experiments on human bodies. And due to some conflicts, his partner tried to harm Garry. He omitted that out of those partners, none of them was a human being, nor did he tell them the specifics of the experiments.
When asked about Amelia, Robin averted his gaze~ .... and said, "I checked~ .... the ritual. It was a success."
