My husband Can Cultivate

Chapter 603 The Ignorant and Arrogant Fops

Chapter 603 The Ignorant and Arrogant Fops

Before long, the pork was grilled to perfection, its enticing aroma filling the air.

Yang Qi and Tong Wu indulged wholeheartedly.

The others could only watch, drooling. Though they had their own exotic delicacies, they were ravenously hungry, and everything smelled delicious. Yang Qi’s grilled pork, in particular, was truly mouthwatering.

"We’ll pay! Just share some of the pork with us," Li Yang couldn’t help but plead.

"Sorry, this pork isn’t something money can buy," Yang Qi said, waving his hand dismissively.

He and Tong Wu devoured the pork like a whirlwind, then both sat down cross-legged to cultivate.

「An hour later.」

Yang Qi opened his eyes. His cultivation had advanced from the introductory phase of the Body Tempering Stage’s Second Layer to the Perfection of the Second Layer.

This pork really is something else—even more effective than Spirit Pills or other elixirs.

Tong Wu was even more ecstatic. His Realm had skyrocketed from a Second Rank Overlord to a Third Rank Overlord, leaving him as delirious as a scholar who had passed the imperial exams.

"Alright, let’s set off!" Yang Qi said with a smile. "Tong Wu, I won’t be taking action much on the road ahead. You should be able to handle most problems yourself now."

"Understood!"

At this point, Tong Wu’s loyalty to Yang Qi was absolute. Years of cultivation couldn’t compare to the gains of just a day or two with him. How could he not be devoted?

Along the way, the group encountered danger several more times.

Tong Wu slew three mutated wild beasts. This time, however, they didn’t eat them. Instead, Yang Qi stored them in the Mountain and River Map, planning to enjoy them with his friends back home. Of course, he made sure no one was watching when he did so, having sent Tong Wu and the others ahead first.

"What do you think you’re doing!"

Suddenly, a furious bellow echoed from up ahead. Yang Qi frowned. The voice was Tong Wu’s, which meant that this time, they had encountered people, not beasts.

He used Wind Step to catch up with the group.

Ahead, near the mouth of a cave, stood a tattered, destitute-looking old man, blocking their path.

"Get lost, and I’ll let you live!" the old man said coldly.

Li Chengshou scoffed. "Old fool, I don’t know who you are, but we’re here on business. If anyone should get lost, it’s you. What makes you think you can tell us to leave? Whatever is in that cave behind you, get out of the way. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!"

The old man gave Li Chengshou an indifferent look and let out a strange, grating laugh. "And who do you think you are, to dare speak to me like that!"

Li Chengshou, dressed sharply in a suit, stood there with an air of arrogance, acting as if he were someone important. He was incredibly full of himself.

Li Yang answered for him, "Listen up, old coot! This is Li Chengshou, the Young Master of the Future Group from Star Country! We’re here looking for something. You’re just an old beggar. How dare you block his path? You won’t live to see another sunrise."

"Heh, Future Group? Never heard of it," the old man sneered. "I’ve lived in these mountains for decades; this place has long been my territory. I’m telling you to scram because I wish to avoid bloodshed. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being discourteous."

The old man clearly didn’t care about Star Country, much less some Future Group. This infuriated Li Chengshou. He had assumed that when he came to Dragon Country, everyone would bow and scrape before him. Yet, after being snubbed by Yang Qi, he was being slighted once again.

One of the sycophants began to shout, "How dare you insult Young Master Li! How dare you insult the Future Group! Young Master Li, let me take care of this old scum for you!"

As he spoke, he cracked his knuckles and strode forward.

Yang Qi shook his head. "You’d better not go. It’s not worth dying just to suck up to him."

But the sycophant paid him no mind, grabbing a wooden stick from the ground and swinging it at the old man.

A dark gleam flickered in the old man’s eyes. He suddenly snatched the young man and lifted him into the air. A moment later, the man’s body instantly shriveled, becoming a desiccated husk that barely looked human.

"AHH—!"

A few of the more sheltered young ladies screamed before fainting from the shock. The others were just as frightened, their faces pale and their bodies trembling.

Li Yang backed away, shouting, "Old bastard, my father is the City Lord of Sea City! You dare kill people wantonly in this mountain? You’re asking for death! When my father finds out, he’ll definitely kill you!"

"Hmph, I don’t care about any City Lord. So what if the ten great families of Sea City show up? On my land, you follow my rules. Leave now, or die," the old man snorted derisively.

What a bunch of idiots. This old man clearly fears nothing, yet they’re foolishly trying to threaten him with their family connections. They’re asking to die. Just a pack of sheltered fools who have never seen the real world.

"You’ve got some nerve!" Li Yang was stunned. He had never before met anyone in Sea City who wasn’t afraid of his father. "Such arrogance! My father could crush you with one hand.

"Anyone here can make a single phone call and summon thousands of Martial Artists! They could drown you in spit alone!

"Young Master Li’s Future Group is even more powerful! If you offend them, there will be no place for you to hide, not even at the ends of the earth!"

The other sycophants joined in the cursing. In their minds, their bodyguards could at least hold the old man off long enough for them to call for reinforcements. They had nothing to fear. After all, they were all prominent figures in Sea City.

Only Tong Wu understood it was useless, no matter who they called. Anyone who could survive in these mountains for decades wasn’t someone who could be defeated by mere numbers. These idiots are just provoking him further. They’re digging their own graves.

"Hahaha! What a flock of fledglings. You clueless idiots have never seen the world! In my eyes, power and money are meaningless crap. If I wished it, I could annihilate all ten of Sea City’s great families," the old man roared with laughter. "Fine. Since you refuse to leave, I can’t let you stay."

He suddenly let out a sharp whistle, and a rustling sound rose from the surrounding woods.

The next moment, a pack of wolves emerged, surrounding them completely.

"How can there be wolves? In this day and age, how can there still be wolves here?"

"Exactly! This is Sea City, a modern metropolis!"

"And why are these wolves so huge?"

Yang Qi scanned their surroundings. There were over thirty wolves. They were much weaker than the wild boars from before, with their Combat Power being roughly equivalent to a Tenth Rank Great Grandmaster. However, the Wolf King leading them was terrifying—more fearsome than any beast they had encountered yet.

"Kill," the old man said softly.

All the wolves, save for the Wolf King, lunged forward.

Only then did the pampered youths feel true fear. They had thought their money and power made them invincible. They had thought they could order anyone around as they pleased. But when faced with a truly ruthless man, they didn’t even have a chance to survive.

"I don’t want to die! Please, don’t kill me! Let us go! I can give you money, lots of money!" one of them shrieked as he tried to flee.

He was quickly pounced upon by a wolf, which tore out his throat.
