Chapter 395 - 230: Holy Profession—Permanent Body, Holy List #2—Wei Zhenghong
Chapter 395 - 230: Holy Profession—Permanent Body, Holy List #2—Wei Zhenghong
’I’ll go back and work on these two professions. The essence may be gone, but I have more than enough Divine Power.’ Su Chen glanced at his panel, his spirits high.
He made his way to the docking port and boarded a Flying Device. However, he was a little surprised when he reached the outskirts of the Floating Island.
At the docking area, there was an additional, strangely shaped Flying Device. It was pale gold all over and looked rather luxurious.
The Flying Device he took was a standard model, but this one was clearly different.
’A visitor already?’ Su Chen muttered to himself.
Without permission, visitors could only stop at the Floating Island’s port. If a "deny access" command was issued for a specific target, then that party wouldn’t even be able to dock.
"You’ve been rushing around ever since you arrived at the Sect, and you even went to the Spirit Hall to retrieve professions. Junior Master, you are truly persevering and diligent. Junior Master Qing Cang was right when he said your Heart was astounding."
Just as he stepped out of the Flying Device, he heard a hearty voice.
Looking up, he saw a tall and imposing figure, over two meters tall, whose eyes shone with a sharp light, exuding a domineering aura that washed over him.
’Wei Zhenghong...’ The name surfaced in Su Chen’s mind. It was the man ranked second on the Holy Hall’s list. He was also the student of Chu Lingyuan, another Venerable of the Bronze Sect.
"Brother Wei..." Su Chen thought for a moment. It was the only way he could address him.
"No wonder Junior Master Qing Cang gets along so well with you. I see you two are quite similar in many ways," Wei Zhenghong teased.
"Uh... is that so?" Su Chen gave a noncommittal reply, ’I wonder why this guy is here.’
This person was already a Tier Seven Professional, and it was said he was about to go through the Melting Holy Profession. His combination of professions was perfected to the extreme, and his strength was exceptionally fierce.
Even as a fellow Tier Seven, Old Chong probably wouldn’t last a single round against him.
"Aren’t you going to invite me in for a bit?" Wei Zhenghong asked.
"I just moved in and haven’t prepared anything. It’s too bare," Su Chen said with a wry smile, "but since you’ve put it that way, Brother Wei, please..."
Wei Zhenghong walked beside him, behaving with a familiar ease as he surveyed his surroundings.
"Are you adjusting alright?" Wei Zhenghong suddenly asked.
"It’s fine. It’s not too different from when I was on Red Thunder Star." Su Chen thought for a moment. ’It’s all just training, taking on professions, and advancing.’
"Oh?" Wei Zhenghong glanced over, unable to hide his surprise, then laughed. "What you just said makes me feel ashamed, Junior Master. When I first arrived at the Sect, I was completely dazzled."
This Wei Zhenghong was not the descendant of some big shot within the Sect, but was selected from one of the many Life Stars governed by the Bronze Sect.
His experience was somewhat similar to Su Chen’s, yet also different.
"I’m just forcing myself to be calm." Su Chen let out a laugh. "I’m actually panicking on the inside."
"People really are different." Wei Zhenghong stared at him, his thoughts unknown, before suddenly sighing with emotion. "As expected of someone with a Heart terrifying enough to withstand the corrosion of Deceitful God’s Power."
Being praised out of the blue, Su Chen couldn’t figure it out. ’This guy didn’t just come here to flatter me, did he?’
"Before you showed up, Junior Master, that guy Qin Tianlin had always seen the two of us as his targets," Wei Zhenghong added.
"Oh?" Su Chen’s heart stirred. "Brother Wei, you should stop calling me Junior Master. I’m not used to it. Just call me Su Chen."
"Then I’ll call you Brother Su." Wei Zhenghong readily agreed. He followed Su Chen to a small pavilion next to the main building, where they each took a seat and looked out at the distant Life Stars.
"Care for a drink?" Wei Zhenghong pulled a metal flask from the void.
"No, thanks," Su Chen refused.
Wei Zhenghong didn’t mind. He took a swig and said,
"The Sect doesn’t support freeloaders. There’s competition everywhere, and the position of a Star Seed is especially coveted. Think about it, a Morning Star Tier’s lifespan is nearly a thousand years, while a Tier Nine’s is merely six hundred. The difference is immense."
"This position of ours... it’s a hot seat! Who knows how many people below are eyeing it." He sighed at this point. "I’m not as good as you, nor as good as Shen Yi’an."
"He was born within the Sect and had his family to nurture him. I was selected and brought up, and I went through a period of hardship. After becoming a Chosen One, the favor of my master, the flattery of others, and the huge gap in status... it all made me waste a period of my time..."
"That in itself wouldn’t have been a big deal, but soon, Qin Tianlin emerged, and ever since Qin Tianlin’s emergence, Qin Yun has been scheming."
Hearing this, Su Chen finally understood. Before he arrived, Qin Yun hadn’t stopped plotting to get to the Morning Star Tier; his target just wasn’t him.
It seemed this Wei Zhenghong felt a sense of kinship with him, as they were in the same boat, which was why he had come.
Wei Zhenghong’s voice turned cold. "At the most dangerous moment, Qin Yun gathered all the Hall Masters and Chairmen, listed my five great crimes, and nearly forced me to my death."
"If the Ancient King hadn’t spoken up at the last moment and given me another chance, you wouldn’t be seeing me here today."
"Since then, I haven’t dared to stop for even a moment."
As he said this, Wei Zhenghong’s expression became complicated. Before Su Chen’s arrival, he had thought that this guy from a Desolate Planet, even with the Ancient King’s protection, wouldn’t last very long.
But as it turned out... the moment he arrived, he triggered the recognition of the Ancient King Stele and ruined more than half of Qin Yun’s schemes.
Then he immediately went to the Spirit Hall to select professions, his objective crystal clear.
He had come here originally to see if Su Chen showed any signs of being overwhelmed and at a loss, as he himself had been when he was suddenly thrust into a high position.
But so far, he had acted with measure and reason, showing not a hint of complacency from all the praise.
"Brother Wei, to be able to learn from such a painful experience truly makes you a hero among men," Su Chen praised after listening.
Wei Zhenghong chuckled heartily. "Let’s speak frankly. The Sect’s competition is fierce, but the three of us Star Seeds, conversely, won’t compete with each other."
"I’m bringing this up first to prevent anyone from secretly sowing discord and creating a rift between us for no reason."
Su Chen was a little surprised, but after thinking about it, it made a lot of sense.
Everyone with strong Talent is eyeing the Star Seed positions, but the Star Seeds themselves won’t scheme to take each other’s spots. Instead, they are natural allies.
Because of their status, they can also mobilize many resources. In a way, their alliance is actually extremely powerful.
Su Chen was marveling inwardly, but he also realized something. "Brother Wei, are you saying that Qin Yun will still make moves in secret?"
"That’s right..." Wei Zhenghong nodded, his eyes filled with a cold chill. "Based on my understanding of him, he will never give up so easily. He’ll just hide it very deep and pop out to bite you when you’re not paying attention."
Su Chen nodded, lost in thought.
Wei Zhenghong took another big gulp of wine, GLUG GLUG, and said with a grin, "If you need any help in the future, you can come find me."
"Thank you, Brother Wei," Su Chen said sincerely. After their heart-to-heart talk, the two had grown closer.
He changed the subject and asked, "I heard that you’re already preparing for the Melting Holy Profession?"
"More or less." Wei Zhenghong was vague, a little surprised that Su Chen would ask about this.
"For the Melting Holy Profession, do you have to ignite the Morning Star Fire?" Su Chen said, then quickly explained, "I just selected a Holy Profession, and if there’s anything I need to prepare in advance, I’d like to make arrangements early."
"You’re thinking way too far ahead." Wei Zhenghong didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"I’m just curious, aren’t I?" Su Chen chuckled. "Melting a Holy Profession, experiencing the Morning Star Fire ahead of time... does that help with advancing to the Morning Star Tier?"
"It doesn’t help one bit." Wei Zhenghong shook his head. He didn’t look much older than Su Chen, but in reality, he was already twice Su Chen’s age.
He wasn’t too surprised by the young man’s curiosity.
He explained, "The Morning Star Fire for Melting a Holy Profession isn’t strictly speaking a flame. You could only call it a spark. Its help is limited."
"A spark?" Su Chen feigned surprise. "There’s actually a spark? How do you ignite it?"
Wei Zhenghong thought for a moment and said, "That’s rather troublesome. It seems you have to go into the Nether Realm, find something called a Spiritual Fire, and supplement it with kindling, only then can you barely ignite the spark."
"The Nether Realm?" Su Chen was surprised. ’The Nether Realm again.’
"It’s too early for you to be thinking about these things," Wei Zhenghong repeated. He took out a wine bottle and began refilling his flask, GLUG GLUG. Then he asked Su Chen again, "You really won’t have a drink?"
"No thanks, I’m planning to go to the challenge center later," Su Chen waved his hands repeatedly.
"To set your rank on the list?" A sharp glint flashed in Wei Zhenghong’s eyes. He immediately put away his flask and said with a cheerful laugh, "Let’s go. I’ll go with you."
