Chapter 161 161: Aliens
Chapter 161 161: Aliens
But... there was an immediate problem that Shinji needed to deal with. Boros's appearance was bound to cause panic.
"Boros, just follow me straight into the school. Don't worry about other people staring." Shinji reminded him softly.
Boros gave a slight nod and followed Shinji through the school gates. Unsurprisingly, they were stopped by the security guards.
"Who are you?"
"This could be a monster! We can't let him in!"
"Hurry! Contact the nearest heroes for backup!"
The guards tensed up as if facing a grave threat. They stood in front of Boros, blocking the way, keeping a cautious distance while issuing warnings.
"Everyone, relax. We're both students of this school."
With just a thought, Shinji produced two student IDs in his hand.
He then presented them to the guards.
The guards looked uncertain, hesitant to approach. Boros's massive frame exuded such a dominating presence that it was hard for regular people not to be intimidated by him. After all, most humans weren't comfortable around monsters.
"It's fine, I'll hand them to you." Seeing their hesitation, Shinji stepped forward himself.
The guard at the front carefully took the student IDs from him.
Even though Shinji looked human, the guards still feared he might be a monster disguised as a human. At the very least, it was obvious that this young man was allied with the "monster," even speaking up on his behalf...
Shinji kept a pleasant smile on his face and made no unnecessary movements, careful not to alarm them.
The guards, still on edge, checked the student IDs.
They found that the IDs were indeed issued by Ueno High School, with no sign of forgery.
Both Shinji and Boros were listed as recent transfer students. Boros's ID even had a special designation: [Alien].
"An... alien?!"
The guards were stunned.
Up to now, they had never seen proof that aliens really existed. Such things had always lived only in human speculation. After all, the universe was unimaginably vast, so vast that humans couldn't even detect its edge, let alone leave the solar system.
People refused to believe that aliens did not exist. If there were no other life in the cosmos, that would be terrifying, like discovering that an entire ocean held only a single fish, which could only mean it lived inside some artificial aquarium.
And humanity, compared to the universe, was far smaller than a single fish in the sea.
Not believing in aliens was one thing. Seeing one standing in front of them was another...
"That's right," Shinji explained. "Boros is an alien. He won't harm humans, so you don't need to worry."
"Well... even so, we still need to report this to our superiors. Please, could you wait a little while in the security office?"
The captain of the guards spoke cautiously.
"Fair enough." Shinji nodded. Boros said nothing, simply following quietly behind him.
The security captain quickly called his superiors to confirm the situation.
Meanwhile, students nearby had seen the tense standoff between Shinji, Boros, and the guards.
"An alien? Seriously? I thought he was a monster, but he's actually an alien..."
"Aliens probably count as monsters too, right? But if he really doesn't harm people, then maybe he can't be considered one?"
"Don't get involved, it seems dangerous. Besides, we're going to be late for class."
Any creature harmful to humans, apart from ordinary animals, was defined as a monster. But if they were harmless, even genuine monsters wouldn't be hunted.
Before long, the security captain received confirmation from the principal. Both Shinji and Boros were indeed new transfer students, and Boros's alien identity was already known.
As for how the principal knew, that was naturally handled by the system. Student IDs and everything else had been arranged by it.
"There's no problem. We've confirmed everything. Sorry for offending you earlier."
The security captain immediately apologized to Shinji and Boros.
The main issue was Boros's alien status. Just thinking about it made it clear he wasn't someone ordinary, so how could the captain risk showing disrespect? And this young man, too, if he was acquainted with an alien, anyone with half a brain would know better than to mess with him.
Some guards even thought about interplanetary diplomacy, speculating that Boros might be a prince from some distant world. His armor and cape carried a regal aura that fed into that guess.
Soon, Shinji and Boros entered the school.
To avoid causing more panic, they quickly located their building and classroom.
Class 3-1.
Since class was about to begin in a few minutes, and this was an advanced placement class, the room was already very quiet, with nearly everyone absorbed in reviewing or preparing.
When Shinji and Boros stepped inside, the already quiet classroom fell into an even deeper silence.
"Ah, just in time. Since our two new classmates have arrived, let's welcome them before class starts," the subject teacher said warmly, clearly having been briefed in advance by the administration.
"New classmates? We're about to graduate, and someone's still transferring in?"
"That one looks scary... he's huge, and he only has one eye..."
"Could he be a monster? But the school wouldn't let a monster in, right..."
Whispers broke out immediately among the students.
"Alright then, let's have our new classmates introduce themselves," the teacher said with a smile to Shinji and Boros.
"Sure."
Shinji nodded, walked to the front, and wrote his name on the blackboard with chalk.
Then he turned and glanced over the classroom, but neither Fubuki nor Psykos were anywhere to be seen.
It seemed they weren't in this class.
Shinji only knew that in this timeline, Fubuki and Psykos were classmates, even seated next to each other. But he had no idea which class they belonged to.
He figured he would just look around the hallways after class.
