...
"Holy fuck!"
Ye Jun almost slipped from his stance seeing the massive wall of status and groaned, "I’ll need to throw things away again."
Still, he was surprised by the changes mostly. He took a deep breath and sat down properly again, ready to look at things one by one.
The first one was obvious. He had completely finished the Ascension and was now at the First Stage of the Soul Tempering Realm. Though, he was definitely surprised by the changes in his Physique.
’It didn’t rank up, but the increase is huge. I’m practically at one-third of the realm. It would have normally taken me so much time. Woah, so enduring all that pain was really worth it.’
Ye Jun was amused, as he still remembered the terrible pain caused by the Tribulation Lightning.
’Comprehension is almost there...’
Just one more push and he would know what existed beyond the Mortal Tier and what changes it would bring to him. Even now he could feel that comprehending techniques would come easily to him, so what about the higher realm of comprehension?
The question would soon be answered.
There weren’t many changes in the Cultivation Manual section, for which he wasn’t surprised. The Trials didn’t target them specifically, after all, so they increased only slightly.
’Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra is still at the limit of its First Form. I’ll need to ask Meihui for the second part.’
He was in dire need of it now that he was in the Soul Tempering Realm. Shaking his head, he moved on to the next section which attracted his attention the most.
There was a new addition to his Physiques.
’Yang Seed increasing is natural after everything I’ve endured. As for Sword Heart Seed...it’s probably because of what I experienced in the Sword Trial.’
As for what it was, he easily got the information.
A short description appeared in his mind the moment he focused on the Sword Heart Seed.
A seed planted within the foundation of the Soul, born of Sword Intent and conviction. Once nurtured, it grows the Soul into a natural vessel for Sword Dao comprehension. Future cultivation of any Sword-related Mysterious Technique receives drastically reduced resistance.
Ye Jun let out a low whistle. ’Now that’s a hidden treasure. I didn’t even realize this thing was planted in me.’
He thought about the ancient sword shattering in his hand, the streams of Sword Intent flowing into his Soul, and the deeper, quieter seed that had settled even further beneath.
He had felt that second settling without quite understanding it at the time. Now the system had named it for him.
’So my Soul is basically a fertile field for the Sword Dao now. Future me is going to thank me a lot.’
He moved on to the Dao Affinity section, and his lips slowly curved upward as he read through it.
’Every single Affinity went up...by a goddamn lot.’
Fire had been his strongest already, sitting at 9%. Now it was at 17%. He could feel the difference clearly. The fire that bloomed from his palm a few minutes ago had carried a weight he hadn’t been able to produce before, and now he understood why. His connection to fire had nearly doubled.
Death had gone from a fragile 2.1% to 7.6%. The Death Trial had given him more than just the lesson about irrelevance. The thing he had refused to surrender to during that Trial had become something he could now actively channel.
Slaughter, Hunt, Wind, Taming, all of them had jumped, some by smaller percentages, but the gains were proportional to where they had started. Taming had been at a pathetic 0.07% before. Now it was at 3%. More than forty times larger.
’And then there’s this guy.’
His gaze fell on the last line of the Affinity section.
Sword (12%)
A new Affinity he had acquired not long ago, immediately starting higher than almost all his others. He had walked into the Sword Trial with barely any Sword Affinity registered at all, and he had walked out with twelve percent of one.
’The Heavenly Dao was thorough. Pass a Trial of an Affinity you barely had, and apparently the system grants you such a high percentage of it.’
He smiled at that, then he moved on to the Passive Skills section, and his smile faded into something closer to disbelief.
’Holy shit.’
The level jumps on his existing passives were ridiculous. Adaptation had gone from Lv. 15 to Lv. 18 in a single Ascension. Qi Control had jumped from Lv. 01 to Lv. 07, six full levels at once, which made sense considering his entire Dantian had reformed. Iron Skin Conditioning had gone from Lv. 01 to Lv. 08, seven levels, almost certainly because the Purple Tribulation had stripped his body down to nothing and put it back together over and over.
Wound Suppression, Predator’s Stillness, Combat Breathing, all of them had advanced multiple levels each. The Tribulation hadn’t just promoted him, it had ground every passive he had into a finer, sharper state.
And then there were the new entries.
Soul Sense Lv. 01 (12%)
The standard Soul Tempering Realm perception ability. He could feel it now that he was looking for it, the way his awareness extended outward in a soft sphere around him, sensing not just bodies but Qi signatures, Soul presences, and the underlying texture of the world’s energy.
The cultivator’s true sixth sense. Every Soul Tempering practitioner had this one.
Soul Anchor Lv. 01 (09%)
This was useful. It was almost certainly the passive that came from successfully transferring his Nexus to the Spiritual Realm before the Tribulation destroyed his brain.
His identity, his memories, and his sense of self were now grounded in his Soul rather than his physical body. Even if his body died, he would have time before the Spiritual Realm assimilated him.
’A safety net. Heavens know I’ll need it.’
Existence Erasure Resistance Lv. 01 (10%)
Ye Jun raised an eyebrow at that one. He recognized the source immediately. The Death Trial had tried to erase him conceptually, to make him believe his existence was irrelevant. Not to mention the Spiritual Realm trying to assimilate his existence.
He had refused to bend and the Heavens had apparently noted the refusal and given him a passive resistance to anything that tried to do the same in the future.
’Useful against Death-Affinity opponents, probably. And against anything that messes with identity or the perception of existence.’
Storm Sense Lv. 01 (12%)
A direct echo of the Wind and Taming Trial. He could feel the air around him with a different awareness now. The slow currents drifting through the training hall. The pressure differences near the walls where the absorption arrays were active. If a storm was forming somewhere in the wider region, he would feel it before mortals did.
Beast Pact Lv. 01 (23%)
The Taming half of the same Trial. A low-level passive presence that lower-tier Spiritual Beasts would feel as something closer to themselves rather than as a threat.
It wouldn’t tame anything outright...wouldn’t even calm a hostile beast, actually. But it would make wild things hesitate before attacking, and that hesitation could be the difference between life and death.
’Hesitation...sometimes that’s all you need.’
Heaven’s Reflection Lv. 01 (09%)
He paused on this one. The description in his mind was vaguer than the others.
A faint echo of Heavenly Insight imprinted on the Soul. Allows the cultivator to feel the gaze of the Heavens upon their actions, and to sense when their path aligns or conflicts with the natural order.
’...Huh.’
He wasn’t sure how he felt about that one. The Heavens had been pretty hands-on with him already. The idea of having a passive that let him feel their attention more clearly was both useful and slightly unnerving.
’Whatever. As long as it isn’t a leash, I’ll take it.’
Sword Intent Lv. 01 (18%)
His embryonic Sword Intent, now properly recorded as a passive. It was already at 18%, the highest starting percentage of any of his new passives. The Sword Trial had given him a head start.
He flexed his fingers and felt the faintest pressure shift in the air around them. The Sword Intent stirred quietly, hungry, waiting to be used.
He moved on to the Active Skills next, expecting more of the same.
His face fell.
’Nothing.’
Not a single Active Skill had leveled up, not even by a single percent. Crushing Mountain Fist was still at Lv. 04 with 11%. Stone Step Footwork was still at Lv. 03. Every single Active Skill was sitting exactly where it had been before his Ascension.
’Wait. The Mysterious Techniques Trial should have...oh.’
He frowned, then slowly nodded as he worked it out. The Mysterious Techniques Trial had deepened his understanding of his techniques, not the techniques themselves. The system tracked technique mastery as a level, but understanding new things was a separate axis it didn’t display.
The Trial had passed him because he understood his techniques at a level beyond their numerical mastery. The system numbers hadn’t moved because the system measured one specific thing.
’Active Skills have to be earned through practice. The Heavens give you the foundation. The work is still on me.’
He shook his head with a small smile.
’Fair enough.’
His eyes drifted to the only new entry in the Active Skills section.
Heaven Hunting Eyes Lv. 01 (02%)
He focused on it and an eye inside his Soul stirred. He felt it open slowly, like a thing that had been waiting patiently for him to acknowledge it.
A grin pulled across his face.
’You’re going to be fun.’
He scrolled down to the last line.

His grin instantly faded.
’Wait, what?’
