244. Spirit Affinity House

244. Spirit Affinity House

Time waits for no man. Lo Jik’s expeditious growth came at the cost of months in the mainland and years in Hu Immortal Blessed land where living beings experienced time five times quicker. Refinement Path Convention had ended a while ago with the top six experts earning the right to enjoy the convention’s rewards from Heavenly Court itself. Alas, due to several reasons, Lo Jik wasn’t one of them.‘The outside world is far from being peaceful.’ He continued probing the information path gu worm for more intelligence on Central Continent. It had to be understood that the gu worm in his hands did not focus on the matters of mortal gu masters for there were simply too many of them. The acts of rank 5 gu masters no longer concerned Lo Jik. His interests lay in the events involving gu immortals, including the top six participants of the convention.

The mysterious Yu Mu Chun, who won the last round against Firesmith Dragon Chief by a landslide.

Firesmith Dragon Chief, the most recent fire path gu immortal addition to Myriad Dragon Dock as its supreme elder.

Fang Huai, a lone wood path gu immortal.

Dou Ping Tan of Heaven’s Envy Manor.

Tian Min Mie, a wind path demonic expert of great infamy.

And Qu Wen, another mysterious figure.

The ten ancient sects could only occupy two spots despite dominating Central Continent for centuries, reaffirming the single fact that the world was filled with an unending wave of experts far surpassing one’s imagination.

What truly attracted Lo Jik’s interest, however, was a matter of the ten ancient sects collaborating to deal with a demon… .

Oh, making these ten ancient sects work together had Heavenly Court written all over it. The surprising thing was the demon’s successful escape despite being chased by several rank 7 gu immortals, even more rank 6 gu immortals, and an immortal gu house!

No matter how diligently the gu immortals of the ten sects tried to hide and suppress the information, other gu immortals did not sit still and fanned the flames from the sidelines. The ten sects were not the only super forces based in Central Continent, they were the strongest ten. Other super forces either acted as subsidiaries to the ten ancient sect or tried surviving in such a cutthroat environment with schemes and righteous plotting alike.

The demonic gu immortal in question?

The culprit was none other than a former Myriad Dragon Dock’s supreme elder— Song Zi Xing. The demonic gu immortal was ambushed during Central Continent’s Refinement Path Convention but managed to flee with his life in True Yang Mountain Range. In its periphery was none other than Yuan Yang City, one of former residence.

It wasn’t Song Zi Xing’s first clash with the ten sects. Myriad Dragon Dock once dispatched five rank 6 and three rank 7 gu immortals to collect Song Zi Xing’s head after he betrayed the sect for one of Blood Sea Ancestor’s true inheritances—Violent Blood Dragon Bat, an ancient desolate beast. In the end, Song Zi Xing killed four of his pursuers, crippled three of them, and forced one to retreat.

Song Zi Xing hid after the act and cultivated quietly without making any moves. The ten sects lured him out this time around to end his reign of tyranny only to witness his latest movement immortal killer move, Blood Demon Body Separation. According to some accounts, this killer move created Song Zi Xing’s clones and escaped in different directions. The clones were so realistic and quick that even investigative immortal killer moves of other gu immortals could not distinguish the main body from the clone.

This was a matter of great humiliation for the ten ancient sects save for one individual calmly holding down the fort in Spirit Affinity House’s public blessed land.

Feng Jiu Ge.

Only during an encounter with Feng Jiu Ge in the past did Song Zi Xing taste a sound defeat and was forced to retreat in three moves. Such records glittered Feng Jiu Ge’s past and left his opponents intimidated in the present.

‘Violent Blood Dragon Bat…’ Lo Jik focused on this true inheritance since he also possessed one of Blood Sea Ancestor’s true inheritance, the Blood Skull Immortal Gu recipe. The bat true inheritance contained methods of nurturing a rare blood path ancient desolate beast, Violent Blood Dragon Bats, or so Lo Jik deduced. Song Zi Xing never disclosed what the true inheritance was aside from the fact that he was seen with that ancient desolate beast. However, Lo Jik could make sound deductions based on the true inheritance he possessed.

‘I could have supplemented Core Beast Formation using Blood Sea Ancestor’s methods.’ Lo Jik sighed softly. ‘However, this event revealed another true inheritance left behind by Blood Sea Ancestor.’

Lo Jik scanned the latter half of the information with greater interest.

The ten ancient sects could only lure Song Zi Xing due to another interesting character—Myriad Dragon Dock’s Vicious Lightning Fiend. Vicious Lightning Fiend was the sect’s rank 6 supreme elder who possessed a part of Blood Sea Ancestor’s true inheritance fragmented during the competition over the inheritance… or so the rumors suggested. It could all be a lie but Lo Jik and many others believed otherwise because it was simply too coincidental.

The only things that could potentially draw Song Zi Xing out were chances to settle his past grudges since he was a ruthless character and obtaining yet another blood path true inheritance.

What made Vicious Lightning Fiend stand out even more was his recent actions.

He had spent a few years in closed door cultivation before emerging suddenly and challenging several gu immortal experts.

Several names like Bee Immortal Liao Mao failed to live up to Vicious Lightning Fiend’s might and were defeated one after another. He was a top expert in rank 6 even before his recent surge in battle strength, having achieved a draw with a rank 7 gu immortal. Now, however, he was a different breed of combatant with a peculiar killer move aiding his battle strength.

Vicious Lightning Fiend’s killer move formed a lightning puppet filled with lightning path dao marks rivaling a rank 6 gu immortal. Simply put, he controlled the strength of another gu immortal! He initially refined one lightning puppet. The number of puppets created by his killer move increased to three after he challenged several experts to obtain more resources.

The source of rumors linking Vicious Lightning Fiend with Blood Sea Ancestor was this killer move itself.

‘It is said that Vicious Lightning Fiend possesses remnant recipe of Blood Deity Immortal Gu, which he referenced to develop his immortal killer move. Blood Deity Immortal Gu is one of the ten great demonic immortal gu worms. Such rumors might not be baseless and were probably released to suppress Vicious Lightning Fiend after his reputation soared due to his successful challenges. The fact that it attracted Song Zi Xing is telling enough. Unfortunately, after refining three lightning puppets, he barely survived his encounter with Song Zi Xing and was left with one lightning puppet.’

‘Blood Deity Immortal Gu is said to create , much like lightning puppets, after killing a willing blood relative. It’s an immortal gu worm that can create rank 6 blood path puppets obedient to the user of the immortal gu worm. It shares some characteristics with human path clones…’ Lo Jik pursed his lips. His desire for Blood Deity Immortal Gu was much greater. Not only could he complete the remnant recipe with the combination of his blood path attainment and Pool of Wisdom gu house, but he could also use it as a reference and develop his human path.

‘Blood Deity Immortal Gu recipe is already a part of Myriad Dragon Dock. Only contributing such inheritances to the sect instead of keeping it for himself prevented Vicious Lightning Fiend from being expelled and pursued like Song Zi Xing.’

Needless to say, the sect must have also offered lucrative terms to Vicious Lightning Fiend to willingly contribute such inheritances or they could have never managed Central Continent for so long.

‘Either way, Song Zi Xing is nowhere to be found and there is no news from Vicious Lightning Fiend. I could… search for him in Treasure Yellow Heaven. Human and blood paths have a great affinity. Extreme Aptitude Gu takes inspiration from Blood Skull Gu itself. And something like a Blood Deity Immortal Gu can enlighten me in the right direction of developing immortal recipes for my clones.’ Lo Jik’s instincts in these matters could not be misjudged.

‘He must be looking for ways to refine his lightning puppets again.’ He schemed. Even if he possessed an immortal recipe for one of his clones, the Wine Drinker Immortal Gu, it didn’t hurt to get more immortal gu recipes, especially something left behind by Blood Sea Ancestor as one of his nine true inheritances.

Lo Jik paused and sent the gu worm in his aperture before looking up at Dang Hun Mountain. It was truly an impressive location, a towering structure once known to have played a crucial role in supporting Ren Zu’s attempt of escaping the Door of Life and Death.

He observed the palace on top of it as he took another step forward. His vision changed in an instant. While Lo Jik still neared Dang Hun’s foot, he immediately noticed an addition near the palace built atop the secluded domain of heaven and earth. It was a new formation surrounding Dang Hun Mountain and preventing others from seeing the second structure.

Awaiting him at the foot of the mountain was the same golden-haired bombshell who acted like the world was her oyster until stranded in the room with Lo Jik. However, his easygoing smile faltered once he noticed the exhaustion and sadness in Feng Jin Huang’s eyes. He hadn’t noticed such a change whenever they interacted until now and understood only a few things could get the woman so down.

His steps swiftly crossed the space between them as he held her close.

“What is it?” Lo Jik demanded gently, his hold firm and comforting alike as Feng Jin Huang lowered her head. Trembling, she finally reached out and looped her arms around his back, hugging him tightly.

He remained silent and stroked her hair as Feng Jin Huang’s tears and cries stained his robes and filled his surroundings respectively. Of course, Lo Jik had no definitive clue about what was going on. He’d already noticed hints of stress on Feng Jin Huang lately but kept from probing too much primarily because of his recent occupying most of his time and efforts alongside the fact that just constantly fussing over her would be somewhat foolish. What gu master did not suffer some hurdles in their cultivation?

As many demonic gu masters from humble origins say—

And if her crying made Lo Jik feel worse, he didn’t let it show on his face. His heart had yet to turn into stone and he was no longer getting spit roasted by Love Gu and Nina’s trait. So, his compassion was not for show. He didn’t shift from her hug until her tears dried out.

“It’s going to be alright.” Lo Jik consoled and wiped tear stains off her cheeks. Her parents be damned. Feng Jin Huang’s rewards were consistent in quality and . He’d been getting quite a few Dreamer Gu from Huang’er as they improved Lo Jik’s attainment at an even greater pace. In fact, Dreamer Gu was only a portion of rare gu worms Lo Jik received from Feng Jin Huang’s accumulated platinum achievements.

So, Lo Jik did care more about Feng Jin Huang than her parents’ feelings… well, he still planned on penning a letter to Feng Jiu Ge and Bai Qing each and explain his side about how he merely hugged their treasured daughter only to console her.

“How do you know?” Feng Jin Huang sniffed slightly. “Shouldn’t you be the last person to say such meaningless words? Did everything turn well for you?”

Undeterred and unscathed by her somewhat unfair hint towards his murdered son, Lo Jik smiled calmly.

“I’m still alive.” He affirmed. “So, everything turn out well. That is simply why I cultivate. Power without desire and wishes without insurmountable challenges are meaningless for me.”

Lo Jik’s smile widened as he held her hands and looked towards the second building besides Dang Hun Palace.

“How long have you been feeling like this, Sister Feng?” Lo Jik inquired.

“A while…” Feng Jin Huang’s shoulders sank. “I appreciate your confidence, but you were called here just to cover all bases. Everyone is helpless, Brother Lo. Even my father.”

Lo Jik chuckled. A wave of warmth washed over Feng Jin Huang as he turned to look at her, brimming with assurance and comfort.

“That’s not reassuring at all.” He exhaled somewhat sharply, his words opposing the confidence in his gaze. “But I’m only summoned now. Maybe I have another miracle in me to spare after all. Isn’t that why I’m known as the ?” He grinned as Feng Jin Huang glanced at rank 9 Love Gu.

“Nobody calls you that, .” She jested weakly.

Lo Jik’s expression darkened before he shrugged.

“I still don’t get why other disciples keep calling me that.” They moved towards the peak of the mountain, his presence quietly easing most of Feng Jin Huang’s worries as her mood alleviated visibly.

“You don’t?” She demanded with a narrowed gaze. “I suppose calling you the Consort would be too much and humiliate the entire sect. After all, you were chosen by Love Gu.”

“Nothing whorish about me.” Lo Jik scoffed.

“Everything about you is whorish!” Feng Jin Huang jabbed cruelly.

“Oh? You would know, wouldn’t you?” Lo Jik replied using a gu worm while maintaining a frown externally. Feng Jin Huang instantly glared at him before snorting coldly.

“I don’t know anything.”

“Really? You don’t?” Lo Jik teased. “You know… Sun Yao is already suspicious about our related to gu recipes in the adjacent room.”

“Keep her out of it!” Feng Jin Huang hissed protectively.

Lo Jik blinked innocently before replying gracefully.

“We do everything outside.”

Feng Jin Huang’s eyes widened briefly before she laid it on Lo Jik.

“Liar!”

“Huh, I guess is an apt title for my circumstances.”

“You did not sleep with Sun Yao. She doesn’t even care about all this and cultivates diligently.”

Lo Jik was more than happy to sacrifice Sun Yao as long as it could distract Feng Jin Huang.

“Little Yao is diligent, yes.”

“Ahhh! You’re lying!”

“You should pay more attention to your surroundings, Huang’er. Little Yao’s kinkier than Qin Juan and you combined.”

Feng Jin Huang’s gaze suddenly sharpened as she paused and pinned Lo Jik with a knowing stare.

“Like you and my grandmother?”

Lo Jik didn’t stop in his tracks and passed her with another step. His answer was even more seamless as if he wasn’t surprised by Feng Jin Huang’s awareness on the matter. After all, the couple got more and more open about their appetites by the time Bai La departed the blessed land to deal with her tribulation.

“Yes.” Lo Jik hummed. “Like me and Fairy Bai La. Although… it’s more depressing than you think.”

Feng Jin Huang followed behind Lo Jik, inquiring promptly.

“What do you mean?”

“I’m her toy,” he replied without any expected hurt in his words. “I was never once in her mind whenever she desired me. Someone far more prominent dominated her mind and heart.”

The granddaughter’s lips parted slightly after hearing such a cold admission.

They stopped near the second building, bathing in the aura of multiple immortal gu worms and thousands of mortal gu worms.

It was an immortal gu house in the form of a skywell house with white walls fashioned from moving clouds with two rings of slanted blue-tiled roofs on the top and the middle, the latter acting as an external division of the floors in the building. Two massive blue doors with the carvings of greyish immemorial desolate beasts, Spirit Cranes, prevented Lo Jik and Feng Jin Huang from entering Spirit Affinity House’s signature rank 8 immortal gu house—.

“Why didn’t you say anything before?” Lo Jik pursued as Feng Jin Huang remained silent.

She replied after a brief moment of silence.

“I… didn’t know what to expect. I suppose I never placed my grandmother on a pedestal because we were so close. She often lazed around me and acted nothing like a gu immortal when she taught me most of the things I know. So, I never truly put such an event past her. That person… who left grandmother smitten is not my grandfather, right?”

Lo Jik snorted a chuckle.

“I don’t think Fairy Bai La loved her partner at the time.”

Feng Jin Huang’s heart soured further.

“Are you truly satisfied?” She inquired. “Being a toy…”

“Of course, not. I know what Fairy Bai La likes. So, I’ll make her mine. I know what you like, and I’ll keep pursuing you. The same goes for Juan’er, Yao’er, and Zhe’er. Rest assured.” He looked over his shoulder. “Everything will turn out alright. I’ve already had my fill of losses.”

Feng Jin Huang inhaled sharply before she nodded.

“Please enter.” She spoke out loud as she added using their information path gu worm. “Promise me, Jik. Promise me that… you’ll help us.”

Lo Jik’s gaze flickered as he shook his head.

“I’m hopeful, not stupid. And a word to a will means nothing.”

Feng Jin Huang chuckled sadly.

“You noticed.” Her body turned translucent as aura of several gu worms emerged from her form.

“Of course. The real you would have tried beating me black and blue no matter the circumstances troubling the sect once she found the truth about me and Fairy Bai La.”

Feng Jin Huang’s will nodded.

“Indeed. I would prepare for that eventuality if I were you. Mother helped extract and stabilize this form of will to present an outward appearance that everything is fine. Step inside, Brother Jik. She will explain everything to you. Don’t feel demoralized if you also turned out helpless. Nobody has been of much help.”

Lo Jik narrowed his gaze before he stepped on the staircase leading to Spirit Affinity House. He vanished from Feng Jin Huang’s will’s sights as the latter exhaled softly and returned to Dang Hun Palace not far from the immortal gu house.
