Chapter 659: Emily Daniels
Chapter 659: Emily Daniels
Within an expensive banquet hall in the middle of London, an election party was taking place, as a large banner hung above a stage saying, Your new Prime Minister Karen Flemming.
Up on the stage, a beautiful middle-aged woman who resembled Isabella Flemming was addressing the gathered crowd, which sat at small circular tables.
Triple Trouble was scheduled to perform after Karen Flemming finished her victory speech and was currently greeting fans who had left their table to approach theirs.
Joanne was standing next to a wall not far from their table when a voice suddenly caught her attention, “Well, if it isn’t Joanne McClain, what on Earth are you doing here?”
As Joanne turned her head, she saw James Flemming approaching with a surprised look on his face, while a beautiful woman, whom Joanne recognised as Emily Daniels, accompanied him while holding his arm.
“Mr Flemming,” Joanne greeted before looking at Emily Daniels and greeting, “Miss Daniels.”
“I don’t believe we’ve met,” Emily Daniels replied politely.
“Allow me to do the introductions,” James offered before saying, “Emily Daniels, meet Joanne McClain, probably the best female bodyguard in the business.
Joanne McClain, I seem to know Emily Daniels, the famous music, film and TV actress, as well as the world's most beautiful woman.”
“Ah, I have heard of you, Miss McClain. Your name has come up in past discussions with some of my friends and associates,” Emily said with a smile.
“Nothing bad, I hope,” Joanne said with a smirk.
“Just them recommending you, should I ever require a female bodyguard to accompany me,” Emily replied before asking in confusion, “I heard you had changed careers, however?”
“That’s generally correct, however, SKK made me an offer to protect Triple Trouble I couldn’t refuse,” Joanne answered.
“Ah, yes, I heard my family had hired Triple Trouble to perform here tonight,” James said politely, to which Emily just smiled before looking at Joanne again and asking.
“So that means that if the price is right, I can hire you?”
“If the price is right and I’m not already protecting someone else,” Joaane replied.
“Then, mind if we exchange contact details?" Emily asked. "I believe I will need your services in the future.”
“No problem,” Joanne replied before exchanging numbers with Emily.
“I hope you're not trying to steal our bodyguard, Emily,” Millie said with a giggle as she, Billie and Jeanie walked over from the table they had been sitting at.
“Not at all,” Emily replied before adding, “Though I do plan to hire her services in the future.”
“You mean for your upcoming world tour?” Jeanie asked.
“World tour?” James asked in surprise.
“You asked Emily to be your date and you don’t even know she has an upcoming world tour?” Billie scoffed before asking, “What did you plan to do, talk about yourself and your family all evening?”
“Of course not,” James replied with a frown.
“Calm down now, Billie,” Emily said in a calming tone before explaining, “I just happened to run into James here when I was practising for my performance, and after talking for a while, he asked me to be his date tonight, so it’s not surprising he doesn’t know.”
“Except for the fact that every entertainment channel, paper, magazine and website has been talking about it for months,” Billie mumbled.
James scratched his cheek slightly in embarrassment before saying, “I unfortunately haven’t had much time to pay attention to the entertainment news since the terrorist attack.”
“Pft, Terrorist attack, yeah right,” Millie scoffed, causing James and Emily to look at her before Emily asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing, nothing,” Millie replied before adding, “I would never say anything that contradicts a member of the Flemming family.”
“Except you kind of already did,” Jeanie said with a giggle, causing Millie to glare at her.
“If you have something to say, Miss Millie, please do so,” James said politely.
Millie hesitated for a second before looking at Joanne, who winked at her, causing Millie to smile before she said, “It just so happens that we know the identity of who really destroyed those buildings and why.”
“And it wasn’t any terrorist organisation as the five families would have us believe,” Billie added, causing James' brow to twitch slightly.
Emily frowned as she saw James' reaction before turning to Millie and asking, “Who was behind it then?”
“Adam Spencer,” Joanne replied, causing Emily to show a look of surprise while James’ eyebrows twitched even more.
“The man who mur…. Sorry, the man who was falsely accused of murdering his girlfriend, only for it to be Viktor Morose who killed her and framed him?” Emily asked.
“That’s the one,” Millie replied happily before saying, “He destroyed buildings belonging to each of the five families with the exception of the Flemming family because of their actions against him and his companions.”
“What could they possibly have done to deserve having their buildings destroyed?” Emily asked in shock.
“I’m more interested in how you know about all this?” James asked with a frown.
Before any of them could reply, Ji-ho Pak approached and addressed James and Emily, “Mr Flemming, Miss Daniels, please excuse us, but Triple Troubles' performance is about to begin and they need to go get ready.”
“Of course,” Emily replied before looking at the three girls and asking, “How about we continue our conversation later?”
“Sounds good,” Jeanie replied before turning to Joanne and saying, “Let's go, Jo.”
Joanne nodded before following Millie, Billie and Jeanie.
Ji-ho watched the four women go as his eyes locked on each of the shaking asses before he turned to Emily and offered her a business card while saying, “If you ever consider leaving Galaxy Studios, do please give me a call.”
Emily didn’t even look at the business card in Ji-ho’s hand and instead stared at the man in disgust before saying, “You think they don’t know how you're lusting after them when you fail to hide your desire, you despicable man?”
As she finished speaking, she turned on her heel and left without waiting for Ji-ho to reply.
James shook his head at Ji-ho before turning and following after Emily.
“Damn it,” Ji-ho cursed under his breath before glaring after Joanne and saying, “Everything's been going wrong since you showed up and let my girls watch that damn stream.”
“You need to watch out for that guy,” Joanne whispered as the group headed for the room that had been assigned as Triple Troubles' dressing room.
“Who, Ji-ho?” Billie asked before scoffing and saying, “He’s harmless.”
“We know who desires us; his attempts at hiding it are laughable,” Jeanie added.
“It makes my skin crawl every time I feel his lustful eyes on me,” Millie said with a shudder.
“Why not have the company replace him if you have that much sway with CEO Kim?” Joanne asked.
Jeanie sighed before adding, “We’ve tried; unfortunately, there are no managers in SSK who are free right now and can take us on, so we're stuck with him.”
“Want me to quietly get rid of him?” Joanne asked in a whisper, causing the three members to stumble slightly before looking back at her in surprise.
“You’d do that?” Billie asked curiously.
“Of course she wouldn’t,” Jeanie replied.
“I’ve done similar jobs in the past,” Joanne replied while giving a nonchalant shrug as if to say that murder was nothing to her.
“Perhaps I was mistaken,” Jeanie stated.
“What similar things, exactly?” Millie asked as the group of four continued walking.
“Eliminating threats to my clients before they could even act,” Joanne replied.
“Errr, is that legal?” Millie asked before adding, “I mean, they hadn’t even done anything, right?”
“The way I see it is that it's only a matter of time before they do something, so I’m just nipping it in the bud early so as not to put my client in danger,” Joanne explained before adding, “It’s the same for Manager Pak.”
“What do you girls think?” Millie asked as she glanced sideways at Billie and Jeanie.
“You can’t be serious, Millie, you're talking about being complicit in a murder,” Jeanie hissed.
“Personally, I would be happy if he disappeared,” Beillie remarked.
“Billie,” Jeanie hissed.
“What?” Billie replied before asking, “You can’t tell me you don’t feel the same.”
“Well…” Jeanie replied hesitantly.
“Girls, we have a show to get ready for,” Millie said before stepping behind Billie and Jeanie and pushing them forward towards their dressing room.
“No need to push, Millie,” Billie complained.
Millie only laughed in response before looking back at Joanne, where her smile faded and she gave her a look of confirmation along with a quick nod before pushing Billie and Jeanie inside the dressing room.
Joanne sighed and shook her head before pulling out her phone and dialling a number.
Over near the stage, Isabella Flemming sat at the most important table while smiling at her daughter, who had just come down from the stage and was approaching her.
