Chapter 472 - 376: Snow Tiger Tribe’s Path to Wealth (3)
It couldn’t be helped. That little female from the Snow Tiger Tribe who had duped both the Scorpion Tribe and the Yan Yan Tribe was standing off to the side with a grin, petting... a pig...
Once the members of the Tutou Tribe had left, Wu Yue excitedly carried her little piglets home. As for the stone bowls from the Yan Yan Tribe?
She would just have the patrolling tribesmen collect them.
Ever since they learned how to fire pottery, everyone in the Snow Tiger Tribe had switched to using lighter pottery bowls that didn’t flake. As for stone bowls...
They were all just sitting in a corner collecting dust.
The news that Wu Yue had traded a pot of food for several large pieces of Beast Skin and a lot of salt that morning spread throughout the entire Snow Tiger Tribe by noon.
Except for a few Beastman Warriors, most of the Snow Tiger Tribe didn’t know their tribe already had a huge surplus of salt. Therefore, they were incredibly envious of this great opportunity to trade delicious food for so much of it.
So, one by one, they also got the idea of making food to trade for salt and Beast Skins.
Wu Yue lined a wooden tub in her home with a thick layer of hay, then cooked some mush for the two little piglets.
They must have been starving. Smelling the food, the two little ones grunted and nudged their way to the stone bowl. They oinked contentedly as they gobbled up the mush, their little black-bean-like eyes squinting in delight.
Once they had eaten their fill, the piglets shook the sparse hair on their heads, wobbled over to huddle together, and began to doze. In no time, both were fast asleep.
Wu Yue couldn’t stop smiling as she watched the two adorably naive piglets.
A tiny version of herself was cackling wildly in her mind, hands on her hips: ’Hahaha! I’m going to be a livestock tycoon!’
The System looked at its host, who was smiling so foolishly she was practically drooling, and felt a wave of disdain. "My dearest Host," it said, "the way you’re staring at these two little piglets... your eyes are glowing green with hunger..."
Wu Yue turned and grabbed the System’s little head. "Don’t be so blunt! That’s a look of affection."
The System fell silent...
’Is this that legendary ’I’ll eat you if you keep looking at me’ stare?’
That afternoon, just as she stepped out of her house, waves of an enticing aroma drifted through the tribe’s settlement. Wu Yue sniffed the air and poked the System’s little body. "That smell is so rich. Who’s cooking something so delicious?"
The System glanced at its host. "Just go take a look for yourself, Host. You’ve pretty much ushered in a new era for the tribe’s trade fairs."
Wu Yue immediately had a guess. The girl and her System followed the scent to the trading ground, where they saw the members of the various tribes—who had been shouting and bartering just that morning—now gathered in circles.
Looking closer, she saw that the women of the Snow Tiger Tribe were in the center of these circles. They had also set up stone pots, in which delicious food was bubbling away.
It was mostly dough-drop soup and stir-fried dishes, and a few tribe members had even prepared flatbreads, carrying them in back-baskets to trade.
When they saw Wu Yue approaching, they all broke into brilliant smiles and excitedly showed off their earnings.
Beast Skins or small amounts of salt. Although it wasn’t as much as Wu Yue had traded for that morning, it was still an excellent haul for some of the Pure Human families.
Members of the surrounding tribes clutched stone bowls, waiting for the food in the stone pots to finish cooking.
Tempted by the memory of Wu Yue’s delicious food that morning, the members of the surrounding tribes had gathered around the moment they saw the Snow Tiger Tribe women start to cook.
A handful of salt could be traded for a bowl of food, a price even the less prosperous tribes could afford.
Some of the smaller tribes were even willing to trade a handful of salt for a single bowl, just so a few of their members could share a taste.
After seeing the beautiful stone houses and tasting delicious food unavailable in any other tribe, the Snow Tiger Tribe’s status skyrocketed in the eyes of the many small and medium-sized tribes.
Meanwhile, in the Snow Tiger Tribe Leader’s courtyard, the Yan Yan’s Tribe Witch sat smiling on a stone stool across from him.
"What do you think of my proposal?
Our Yan Yan Tribe can trade all our salt with the Snow Tiger Tribe from now on. You’ll no longer have to travel to faraway places like the Sea Tribe.
I know you have salt from the Shuishan Tribe, but who knows when their supply might run out.
The Yan Yan Tribe, on the other hand, has vast amounts of salt—our reserves are larger than the Polar Forest itself. We have more than we could ever use.
All we ask is that you teach us how to make those things you call back-baskets."
