Chapter 299: Cecilia Bennett—The Check
Chapter 299: Cecilia Bennett—The Check
How did this happen? She didn’t do anything wrong. Holly Sawyer really is quite inexplicable.
Cecilia Bennett expresses her confusion.
"Your heart is all focused on a man; where is there any room for me?"
Holly Sawyer murmurs, turning her head to the side, refusing to look at Cecilia Bennett.
Anyway, she’s really angry, not happy at all.
"Hey hey hey, Holly, you’re the one I love the most, you must believe me."
Cecilia Bennett steps forward and puts her arm around Holly Sawyer’s shoulder, speaking in a playful tone.
"I don’t believe you."
Holly Sawyer brushes off Cecilia Bennett’s hand, looking very displeased.
Cecilia Bennett tries to appease Holly Sawyer, after much coaxing and persuading, Holly finally says she’s not angry.
"Men, they are like that. Once I have him, I’ll give you my undivided attention."
Cecilia Bennett pats her chest, solemnly promising.
"Hmph."
Holly Sawyer rolls her eyes at Cecilia Bennett.
Time passes quickly, and in the blink of an eye, Cecilia Bennett enters her senior year. She’s still a school bully but maintains excellent grades.
Cecilia Bennett and Holly Sawyer, though inseparable, always have moments when they are apart.
Cecilia Bennett has just paid for a hairpin and is about to leave when she’s stopped by a graceful, wealthy-looking middle-aged woman.
"Don’t block the way."
Cecilia Bennett, looking arrogant, glances at the woman and says.
The voice isn’t particularly pleasant but not unpleasant either.
"You’re Cecilia Bennett, right?"
The woman doesn’t leave; she smiles at Cecilia Bennett.
"Such a pretty young girl, so charming."
Before Cecilia Bennett can say anything, the woman continues.
She looks Cecilia Bennett up and down without any restraint.
"Yes, who are you?"
Cecilia Bennett lightly wrinkles her forehead, her gaze landing on the woman’s face.
Weird.
"I’m Theo Shaw’s mom."
Mrs. Shaw’s smile is radiant, not quite friendly but not unfriendly either.
"Hello, Auntie."
Cecilia Bennett smiles, her face showing a sweet smile.
Ah, so it’s Theo Shaw’s mom.
"I’d like to treat you to some tea, just over there. Let’s have a chat."
Mrs. Shaw points to a high-end tea shop across the street, speaking softly.
After ordering the tea, once seated, the unfriendliness on Mrs. Shaw’s face comes through.
"I have only one purpose today: I want you to stay away from Theo."
Mrs. Shaw gets straight to the point, looking directly at Cecilia Bennett.
Cecilia Bennett is momentarily stunned, looking at Mrs. Shaw in confusion.
Theo Shaw’s mom...
They’re not even together. She doesn’t even know if Theo likes her, and yet Mrs. Shaw talks to her like this... It’s not really appropriate, is it?
"Auntie, Theo and I are not in a romantic relationship; he just treats me as a sister."
Cecilia Bennett remains unfazed, speaking calmly.
That’s the truth; their relationship is just brother-sisterly right now.
"I don’t care what your relationship is. I want you to stay away from him, whether it’s as siblings or a couple, staying away is the right thing."
"You’re a beautiful young girl; you can find as many ’brothers’ or handsome boyfriends as you want in the future. Just spare my son."
"Here’s five million, as a fee for you to stay away from Theo."
Mrs. Shaw pulls a large check from her bag, speaking quietly, her tone calm.
"Do you think I need money?"
Cecilia Bennett looks at the check in front of her, amused.
Although her family isn’t top-tier and her parents aren’t particularly good to her, she’s never been short of money.
"I know you don’t lack money, but you need to consider the consequences."
"It’s best if you take this five million. If you don’t...
you won’t get a penny and still have to leave."
"I’ve heard your grades are pretty good; I believe you’re a smart kid."
Mrs. Shaw says, her tone free of aggression, not sharp, rather gentle.
"No, thank you."
Cecilia Bennett says with determination.
Leaving isn’t a concern, but she absolutely won’t take the money.
Cecilia Bennett turns and leaves confidently.
Threats from others?
Sorry, she’s really not afraid.
Perhaps Mrs. Shaw knows her background thoroughly, but so what? She doesn’t care.
Cecilia Bennett has never been afraid of anything.
This matter came to an end; Cecilia didn’t even tell Holly Sawyer, mostly because she felt a bit embarrassed.
Such a dramatic plot happening to her, wouldn’t Holly laugh her head off?
So Cecilia Bennett kept it to herself.
——
"Holly, I really envy your regular menstrual cycle."
Sitting in Holly Sawyer’s room, watching Holly search her drawer for sanitary pads, Cecilia Bennett says enviously.
Unlike her, she never knows when it’s coming.
"Envy my ass, it hurts like hell."
Holly Sawyer hugs her stomach, her face showing a painful expression.
It really hurts.
Damn it, if there’s a next life, she’d want to be reincarnated as a man; this life is truly unfortunate.
"For someone like me who doesn’t get it, it’s definitely enviable."
"I should check it out at the hospital someday; I can’t help but feel uneasy."
Cecilia Bennett sprawls out on the bed, her face full of envy as she says.
It’s truly tough being a girl; the menstrual cycle, it comes when you don’t want it to, making you feel uncomfortable in every way.
If it doesn’t come, you worry why it hasn’t.
In short, whether it comes or not, it’s bothersome.
Being a girl is really difficult.
"It’s good to get it checked,"
"In the next life, I’d want to be reincarnated as a boy; sounds great."
Holly Sawyer sprawls out on the bed too, rubbing her stomach, feeling all sorts of ways.
Truly a lot of feelings.
It hurts like hell.
There are always those few days in a month she’s in a bad mood, feeling particularly low.
"I feel the same."
Both girls reach a mutual understanding.
"Want some tea?"
Cecilia Bennett, playing with her phone, suddenly glances at Holly Sawyer and asks.
"Order delivery?"
Holly Sawyer lives alone, having bought a place near the school; her mom doesn’t live with her.
Holly Sawyer has always been very independent and smart, doing things beyond her years.
Cecilia Bennett admires Holly Sawyer; she finds a girl like her really cool, though she doesn’t have that kind of capability.
"No, Theo wants to treat me to tea, want to come along?"
Cecilia Bennett shakes her head as she speaks.
After spending so much time together, Cecilia Bennett really likes this big boy, thinking if everything goes well, she’ll confess her feelings after the college exams.
Love is something to strive for.
"No, you go ahead; I’m better off lying down."
Holly Sawyer covers her head with a pillow.
She really doesn’t feel like moving, not even a little bit.
Besides, it’s sort of a date, right? She’d just be in the way if she went.
