Chapter 310: You Know What I Mean
Chapter 310: You Know What I Mean
Maya Monroe walked over and sat next to Monica Jacobs. Her eyes and brows were slightly downcast, her expression showing some softness and obedience.
Monica Jacobs extended her hand and held Maya’s. She was half lying on the bed, her eyes clear, her voice tinged with pity: "Maya, you must be very tired from taking care of me these few days?"
Maya shook her head: "It’s good that you’re awake."
"Things have been a bit chaotic lately, I only just managed to sort my thoughts out. It’s been hard on you, watching me lose my mind..."
"You mustn’t say that." Jasper Monroe came over holding a fruit platter: "Here you go again, muddling things up, don’t scare the children."
Monica still held Maya’s hand, paused for a moment, then smiled: "You’re right, it’s all me being muddleheaded."
She turned to Maya and said: "Maya, my health has improved a lot, you should hurry back to your work."
Maya naturally refused but couldn’t resist Monica’s firm attitude.
"You’ve been absent from work for so many days because of me; who knows how many people are gossiping about you behind your back. Listen to me, go back and focus on your work."
Jasper also nodded in agreement: "I’ve got your mom covered. Now that she’s awake, Maya, you don’t need to worry anymore."
Maya wasn’t in a rush to leave, she fed Monica breakfast, and seeing her condition was good, then left.
Recalling what happened in the morning, Maya didn’t forget to visit the old house.
Everyone from The Rowe Family was gathered in the living room, the atmosphere was somewhat strained, each person’s expression wasn’t good, there was worry and tension.
Ian Rowe was startled for a moment when he saw Maya walk over, then quickly stepped forward: "Why didn’t you tell me before coming, I could have arranged for someone to pick you up."
"It’s no trouble at all, I can just take a cab here. Besides, you’re so busy, how could I disturb you."
Ian detected some concern in her words, his gaze naturally softened further: "I’m still worried when you come by yourself."
"I’m an adult now, it’s not like I could get lost."
Maya walked over with Ian and together they sat on the sofa, not forgetting to greet the people around.
Jessica Young’s face immediately showed a smile: "I’ve been busy with family matters these past days and didn’t visit, how is Mrs. Monroe’s health?"
"Thank you for asking, my mom has woken up."
"That’s good." She sighed again: "I don’t know how long it’ll take for the old lady to wake up this time, even Dr. Yane said she’s not lightly angered. The elderly are already old, it’s really puzzling..."
She swallowed the name, but couldn’t help voicing her resentment: "How could someone lay such a heavy hand, after all, he was raised by her..."
"Ungrateful wretch!" This was Fiona Rowe cursing, she was shrunk by Howard’s side on the sofa corner. Her eyes welled up with tears, seemingly about to fall in the next moment.
The old lady liked capable descendants, Fiona happened to excel in none, naturally never receiving the old lady’s favor. Though not intimate, Fiona always respected her grandmother, and upon hearing about her coma, her tears flowed quite a bit.
Howard helplessly glanced at Fiona, but this time he didn’t admonish her, instead, he comfortingly patted her back.
This sister of his was always blunt, overly emotional.
Franklin Rowe, who had been silent, then spoke a few words of reprimand: "What are we discussing here! The priority now is to wait for the old lady to wake up, all else can be postponed."
Ian had already learned the basic situation from Aunt Holly. Yolanda Sawyer had been angered into a coma by Tristan, and this wasn’t the first time.
He beckoned the butler over: "Make sure someone keeps an eye out in the future, don’t let Tristan be alone with grandma."
Actually, there was a more straightforward method, which was simply to not let Tristan enter the house. Anyway, they’ve already torn face, no need for pretense. But that would definitely be opposed by Yolanda, who always hoped for family harmony.
To avoid conflict with Yolanda and making her angry, they could only choose this compromise method.
The butler, having been with The Rowe Family for many years, immediately understood the implications, nodded in acknowledgment.

Yolanda’s coma wasn’t long; she woke up that afternoon. After visiting with her, Maya promptly hurled herself back into work.
The director didn’t inquire about specifics, only came over to encourage her, urging her to quickly adjust her state to continue filming.
Ryan Spencer arrived at the set, bringing some carefully cut fruit Maya enjoyed.
Maya took it: "Thanks."
"It’s good to eat some fruit, try to avoid high-calorie foods."
Ryan asked: "You’ve had a lot on your plate recently, how’s it going, any resolution yet?"
"Almost, things are developing in a good direction."
"Good." Ryan reminded: "Your scenes are nearing completion, be sure to adjust your state and finish the performance well in these last few days." He patted Maya’s shoulder: "I know you’ve been quite tired lately, don’t push yourself. If you need anything, just ask me, I’ll find a way to help you."
"Rest assured, Ryan, it won’t affect the filming."
Just as Maya had said, her scenes in the afternoon went seamlessly, with exceptional skill, without a single mistake, the director proclaimed her full of potential.
Kiki Monroe stood nearby, watching Maya sip from a cup and then, followed by an assistant, walk toward the rest area.
Coincidentally, she stood in the same direction.
Maya naturally noticed Kiki, but this time she didn’t ignore her, instead halting her steps.
"If you have time, go home and take a look."
Kiki stood opposite her, a hint of a cold smile playing on her lips: "Home? Which home do you mean? I’m not already home? I go home every day."
Maya spoke lightly: "You know what I mean."
The sun was scorching at that moment, but Kiki was entirely enveloped under her umbrella, glancing around, saw assistants holding umbrellas, and bodyguards closely following behind.
These were resources and privileges she couldn’t enjoy at the Monroe Family, what they could offer her was far too little, even the meager ’goodness’ had been worn clean.
"What, do you begrudge my fortune, so you want me back at The Monroe Family to suffer?" Kiki laughed again: "Don’t you know what kind of days I’ve been living at The Monroe Family? What reason is there for me to return?"
"Mom misses you." Maya only calmly stated the fact.
"That’s your mom, not mine! In The Monroe Family, I’m nothing, anyone with eyes can see how differently Monica treats the two of us!"
