Chapter 477 - 479: Wedding Extra (Part 1)
After nearly two months of preparations, the wedding day finally arrived.
Naomi Kenway emerged slowly, having changed into her wedding dress. The pure white, strapless gown accentuated her lovely shoulders and neck, revealing her elegant collarbones. The cinched waist outlined her slender figure, and delicate, glittering diamonds dotted the fabric, making her look both elegant and sensual.
Hearing the gasps around her, Naomi Kenway couldn’t help but laugh. "Do I look good?"
The dressing room was filled with people. Rose Kenway sat in the center, flanked by several of Naomi’s closest friends.
Chloe Murray’s eyes went wide as she clapped her hands. "Pretty? You’re beyond pretty! You look like a goddess descended from the heavens. If I were Ethan Shaw, I’d want to just eat you up..."
She suddenly seemed to remember something and glanced quickly in Rose Kenway’s direction, a hint of embarrassment and unease on her face.
Rose Kenway slowly stood and walked over. Thanks to the dedicated care of Leo Lennox and the Shaw Family’s private physician, she could now get up from her wheelchair and walk without the pain she used to feel. Her pace was still slow, however, and a full recovery would take time.
Even so, she was already deeply content.
To have survived to see her daughter’s wedding, to watch her marry and find happiness—this was truly a gift from the heavens.
Rose Kenway took Naomi’s hand, her face filled with emotion. "Our Nina is the most beautiful bride!"
As she spoke, she raised her other hand to Naomi’s cheek, caressing it gently.
’The innocent face of her childhood superimposed over the one before her now, just as beautiful.’
Rose Kenway let out a soft sigh, and then smiled through the tears welling in her eyes.
’On such an important day, her thoughts instinctively turned to her beloved parents. Her mother had passed away far too young, but she had been thinking of them right up to the end. And her father... she remembered his lingering, worried gaze from his sickbed. He had said he couldn’t rest easy worrying about his granddaughter. Nina was smart, he’d said, but far too reckless, and he’d instructed her to always maintain a good relationship with her daughter.’
’If her parents could see them from the great beyond, they would surely be overjoyed to see how happy she and her daughter were now.’
Naomi played along, nuzzling against Rose Kenway’s palm. "Mom, tell me, have I gotten fat?"
"You’re a grown woman now, why are you still acting like a little girl?" Rose Kenway chided, but her eyes were full of mirth, and it was clear she was enjoying the affection.
"I don’t care. As long as I’m with you, I’ll always be your little girl."
Rose Kenway pulled her daughter into her arms and whispered, "Alright."
Jenna Shaw came over excitedly, holding up a camera. "Come on, sister-in-law! Let me get a couple of pictures to commemorate the day. A day this important has to be documented! I spent a fortune on this camera, it’ll definitely be able to capture your beauty!!"
After taking pictures of Naomi, Jenna had all the young women in the room pose for a group photo.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. Ethan Shaw’s distinct, deep voice followed from outside. He had intentionally lowered it, infusing it with gentleness.
"My dear, are you all ready? May I come in?"
Margaret Jennings exchanged a look with Victoria Vance beside her and said with a laugh, "Weren’t you just downstairs entertaining the guests? Why are you in such a hurry to come up here?"
Naomi smoothed her hair, feeling a sudden, inexplicable nervousness. "You can come in."
Ethan Shaw pushed the door open and walked in. His breath caught when he saw Naomi in her wedding dress. As he closed the door, his hand tightened into a fist, and a faint blush crept up his fair complexion before he composed himself and walked toward her.
He didn’t forget to greet Rose Kenway, who was standing nearby. "Mom."
Naomi noticed his slightly flushed ears and couldn’t resist reaching out to pinch one. "Why are your ears so red? Weren’t you there for the dress fitting?"
