Chapter 956 - 186: Proposal (Part 2)
Chapter 956 - 186: Proposal (Part 2)
"The doctor said the situation is still not optimistic. We should be prepared mentally." Tang Yige’s voice was hoarse as she spoke.
Tang Yuwen’s eyelids twitched, and his breathing followed suit, becoming more rapid.
Tang Yige looked at Tang Yuwen’s slightly trembling profile and asked softly, "Dad, are you afraid?"
Tang Yuwen suddenly opened his eyes, staring sharply at Tang Yige.
"All her life, my mom has been serving you, going along with you. In front of you, my mom has always acquiesced without a word of defiance.
My mom quietly kept the house in perfect order, clean and tidy, allowing you to focus entirely on your artistic career without any worries.
At home, even if you wanted a drink of water, it was my mom who brought it to you, placing it right by your hand.
If my mom doesn’t pull through this time, have you thought about how you’ll live your life without her? Can you manage?"
Tang Yige spoke calmly, her voice gentle, restraining all sharpness as she reasoned.
Tang Yuwen clenched his hand, his whole body jerked twice in large tremors.
"You can’t, right? Without my mom, your life would be a complete mess, you wouldn’t even have someone to talk to."
Tang Yige lowered her eyes, the corners of her mouth showing a tinge of bitterness, "So, if my mom makes it through this, will you treat her well? If you can, then you live together. If you can’t, I’ll take her away. Is that alright?"
Tang Yuwen breathed heavily, glaring at Tang Yige, "Tang Yige, what are you plotting?!"
Tang Yige’s brows twisted as she slowly lifted her lashes to look at Tang Yuwen, her gaze clear, "I just think my mom has suffered too much in her life, every day has been less than ideal.
I hope that after surviving death, she can have a new life, a new, hopeful life."
"So? You sent your sister who-knows-where, and now you want to take your mom away from me too?!
Tang Yige, how cruel-hearted, how hard-hearted you are! Do you truly want me to live out my remaining days in miserable loneliness?!"
Tang Yuwen, grabbing his fists, angrily pounded the bed.
Seeing the veins on Tang Yuwen’s forehead pop out, Tang Yige furrowed her brows even tighter, deciding not to continue this topic further, knowing there was no point other than receiving more accusations and blame.
"You take care and rest well, I’ll leave now."
Having said that, Tang Yige stood up and made to walk towards the door of the hospital room.
"Stop!"
Tang Yuwen hoarsely shouted.
Tang Yige paused, pulling out the chair, and walked towards the door.
"Tang Yige, if you take another step forward, I’ll smash my head and die right here in this hospital room!"
Tang Yuwen’s desperate roar echoed, the bed thumping loudly as he hit it.
The special nurse, startled by the commotion, hurriedly stepped inside, looking alarmed.
Seeing Tang Yuwen agitated, the blood in his veined hand, connected to a needle, was already flowing back into the IV tube, the special nurse was taken aback, quickly moving forward, reaching out to take hold of Tang Yuwen’s hand, only to have it powerfully flung aside by him.
"Ah..."
The nurse, already anxious and poorly able to support her legs, was pulled aside by Tang Yuwen with one arm, crashing directly into the bedside table, immediately letting out a cry of pain.
Tang Yige, shocked, turned around to see the nurse clutching her stomach, bent over in pain.
Tang Yige gasped, quickly stepping forward to support the nurse’s arm, "Are you okay?"
The nurse, eyes brimming with tears from the pain, glanced at Tang Yuwen lying on the bed, fists clenched, breathing heavily, "Help me over there, his blood is backing up, I must remove the needle immediately."
Tang Yige glanced at Tang Yuwen’s hand, indeed seeing the blood still flowing into the IV tube, hurriedly assisting the nurse forward.
Reaching the bed, the nurse looked again at Tang Yuwen, seeing that his emotions were no longer as intense as before, hurriedly pulling out a cotton ball from the bedside table, extracting the needle, and pressing the cotton ball on his hand.
"Let me do it."
Tang Yige, seeing how the nurse was in severe pain, offered.
The nurse nodded, letting Yige take over the pressure on Tang Yuwen’s hand.
The nurse sat on a chair not far behind, still bent over, seemingly from a harsh impact.
Tang Yige, eyes full of apology, looked towards the nurse, "Do you want to have it checked out?"
"...It’s fine, I’ll just rest for a bit, still need to get the old man hooked back up to fluids." The nurse said with a pale face.
Tang Yige felt increasingly guilty, moved her lips, and said, "I’m truly sorry."
The nurse shook her head, kindly reminding, "The old man’s health is very fragile now, emotional outbursts should be avoided as they can hinder recovery and may even lead to shock, strokes, or other dangerous situations."
Shock...
Tang Yige glanced at Tang Yuwen, emotionless face still tensed, her heart heavy, nodding to the nurse.
The nurse rested briefly, then got up, replacing the previous IV tube and needle, starting a new IV line in Tang Yuwen’s other hand.
After several confirmations that she was alright, Tang Yige left the hospital room.
The nurse left.
The hospital room was once again left with just Tang Yuwen and Tang Yige.
Tang Yige looked at Tang Yuwen sitting stiffly on the bed, took two deep breaths, and said, "Don’t just sit there, lie down. I’ll listen to whatever you have to say."
Tang Yuwen’s face was dark, his eyes full of hateful venom as he glared at Tang Yige, before collapsing back onto the hospital bed.
Tang Yige exhaled, moving forward to cover him with a blanket.
She didn’t sit on the chair by the hospital bed, just stood by the bedside looking at Tang Yuwen.
Because of the earlier violent emotional upheaval, Tang Yuwen’s bloodshot eyes glared at Tang Yige, appearing as if he could swallow her whole, "I admit the press conference to dissolve our father-daughter relationship was my idea, not instigated by Rong Sinan."
Tang Yige’s eyelashes fluttered slightly.
Zhou Xueran had mentioned this to her before.
"But under those circumstances, if I didn’t do that, our Tang Family would forever be criticized behind our backs.
Given the choice between two harms, I chose the lesser one. Since I had to consider the dignity of our entire family over just you.
Furthermore, severing the father-daughter relationship was a temporary measure. After the storm passed, you could still come home.
Blood ties can’t be dissolved just by holding a press conference!"
Tang Yuwen’s words were powerful, self-assured, and righteous, "Don’t you hate me because of this? But do you know how much inner turmoil I went through when I made that decision? You, Tang Yige, are my flesh and blood. I can’t help but love and feel pained over you."
Tang Yige looked at him, numb, not replying, not arguing.
If she replied, Tang Yige’s words would inevitably not yield to him.
Not yielding would provoke and anger Tang Yuwen, leading to emotional fluctuations that couldn’t be contained.
Hence, it was better to say nothing.
"I, Tang Yuwen, have only you and your sister as my daughters. Everything I do is for you two. Back in the day, it was originally your fault. Do you realize what you did almost ruined your sister’s marriage?
If I hadn’t held that press conference to announce the severance of our father-daughter relationship, would Rong Sinan’s mother not have taken it out on your sister, humiliating her over this matter?
If that happened, would your sister have had a good life in the Rong Family? You’ve already gone down that path, I can’t let your sister be ruined too!"
Perhaps because Tang Yige didn’t refute him, Tang Yuwen felt more justified and reasonable in his actions back then, believing it was all for Tang Ruan’s sake, a choice he had no choice but to make.
If Tang Yige was keeping quiet before due to concerns about Tang Yuwen’s health, now she truly had no desire to speak.
She no longer hoped for Tang Yuwen to reflect on himself, nor did she hope he would consider things from her perspective, thinking genuinely about her for once.
Tang Yuwen lived a self-centered life, partly due to his own personality and partly because of Zhou Xueran’s indulgence.
For Tang Yuwen to have a sudden epiphany was nearly impossible.
Seeing Tang Yige still silent, Tang Yuwen’s expression softened somewhat, his tone eased, and he said with narrowed eyes, "Yige, you are your father’s daughter. How can any parents not love their child? Parents can make mistakes too, just like you.
The matter has already happened, clinging to it accomplishes nothing but making you and your parents suffer, without changing anything."
Hmm.
Tang Yige understood.
He meant that parents make mistakes too, but regardless of what they do wrong, if they confess and apologize, you must forgive them.
If you cannot forgive your parents, then you are unfilial, committed terrible sins, and deserve utmost contempt!
