Chapter 176: We Need A Workplace Retreat
Chapter 176: We Need A Workplace Retreat
"A... Group event?" Olivia repeated.
Right now we were in my penthouse living room where I called her for a quick meeting after I returned from my short patrol with Kris.
I nodded, "It seems like no one is interacting with each other outside of work and there seems to be a rift between everyone. So I thought we could organise some icebreaking events or something to get everyone closer together, you know?"
She blinked at me before tilting her head, "So... Like... Maybe a group hunting event where we go and beat up some Anomalies?"
I opened my mouth to reject that idea before I shut it.
What could a bunch of superpowered individuals even do for fun that will encourage interaction between said individuals?
I highly doubt any of them are interested in just gathering around in a circle and singing kumbayah to get to know each other.
What could we even do actually?
"I’d rather not," I finally admitted. "I was thinking of just having something that everyone could do together to get a better understanding of each other, you know?"
A smile appeared on Olivia’s lips, "You have been talking to the other Guardians, have you now?"
"Well... For now, it’s just Kris I guess? I did ask him about what he thought about the others on the team and basically the answer I got was that everyone doesn’t really interact with one another. I thought that if we were to be fighting and living together anyway, that might be a problem in the long run."
Olivia nodded, "I agree, my Lord. We had been quite unfortunate in the sense that we had to rush everything so far given the circumstances that we were given."
I gave her a wry smile, "No kidding... First I get instated as the Mortal God, then I’m immediately tasked with dealing with rifts one after the other... Then my first batch of Guardians were basically shoehorned in and then right after that I had to deal with an overseas rift as well. All of this while we didn’t even have a proper base of operations."
Olivia nodded, "Indeed... And even now... We’re still lacking in manpower and our base isn’t fully functional yet. But I suppose we should at least organise some company R and R."
And here I was afraid that Olivia was actually serious about making us go and fight Anomaly as a way to break the ice...
Actually... I have a feeling she was actually serious about that one but good thing I rejected it.
"Can I leave the details to you though? I know you’re already swamped with work so if it’s too much..."
"It’s alright my Lord. I can handle it."
"I’m serious though... You’re already taking on so many responsibilities so maybe you should hand some of it to someone else?"
Olivia hummed, "Don’t worry, my Lord. I know how to handle it. For now, I suppose we might as well focus on the issue here where all the Guardians are not well acquainted with each other yet and how we should solve that."
"Right. So apparently we have a whole bunch of people who are introverts acting as my Guardians right now and they barely interact with one another."
"Hmm... In that case, how about group training sessions? We already have that competition that we have decided to hold every six months to compete for that room after all."
I really don’t think that the room was worth competing for to begin with but I thought it might be a good way to keep the Guardians on their feet since they would have to compete with each other so I didn’t try to stop them.
But a group training session...
"Is there anything that we could do that doesn’t involve all of us beating each other or something?"
She then tilted her head, "In that case, would my Lord be open to the idea of having a tour around the mainland?"
I blinked at her, "A tour around the mainland? I mean... I don’t mind but... Are you sure we can even do that? Considering who we are?"
She nodded, "Right now, only your appearance as the Mortal God is common knowledge. Us Guardians aren’t that well known yet so if we just put on a little bit of disguise, I believe it should be fine for us to blend in."
Hmm... I guess we might as well? I don’t think my Guardians have actually been on a tour around Singapore to begin with so this could be a good time to do so.
And since we’ve already been on this island for more than a week by now, it’s a good chance to relax on the mainland too.
After all... Despite this place’s close proximity there, it’s losing the ’Singapore’ touch after the Bunarfs have refurbished the place.
Not that I’m blaming them of course. It’s just that there aren’t really any locals here so there won’t be the same feeling either.
I guess this is what they mean when they say you feel like a tourist in your own country.
I don’t really see a problem with Olivia’s suggestion so we decided to go ahead with that.
We ended up deciding to go on a Wednesday since we figured there would be less people out and about on a weekday and, thanks to us not being normal office workers, we didn’t really have a set work week schedule anyway.
And technically... I am the boss of this entire organisation so I can just arbitrarily set a day where we don’t need to work~
Not gonna lie, that might be the best perk of being a Mortal God right now~
Wearing a simple T-shirt, shorts and a pair of trainers, I came down from my penthouse to meet up with my Guardians.
Upon stepping out... I couldn’t help but feel completely underdressed...
Olivia was not wearing her suit this time but instead, she was wearing a stylish white button down shirt and beige pants complete with sunglasses and her usual high heels.
Beside her was Ava who was wearing a blue floral dress with white stockings and sandals with a wide brimmed straw hat resting on her head.
Both of them would not look out of place in a fashion runway in that.
Leena seemed to have opted to follow along in her bipedal form and instead of the combat armour she would usually wear, she’s wearing a tank top with a denim jacket and shorts that was complimented with a pair of high heeled boots, giving her the tomboy feeling.
In contrast to her, Jia Lian was wearing a cute pink dress with puffy, short sleeves and knee length white socks and a pair of black mary janes.
Maylene was also joining us and the bunny girl had a surprising sense for fashion as she had a newsboy cap on her head that had holes for her bunny ears to peak through while she had a short sleeved button down shirt and baggy pants that barely hid the high heeled sandals she was wearing.
Kris seemed to have also been studying up on fashion as well and it looks like he has settled on a white summer dress complete with white stockings and high heeled pumps. If you just looked at him like that, you would have definitely believed this person is a girl.
At least it looks like he’s completely comfortable with dressing up in those clothes now.
Last but not least, even Sergei had dressed himself up in a punk type, sleeveless hoodie with chains dangling on his chest that half covered his torn up jeans and black boots.
What the heck? Why is everyone all dressed up like they were going for some kind of fashion show?
I don’t usually care about my fashion so all the clothes I have are just normal everyday casual clothes. I definitely don’t have anything that could match them!
Just as I was wondering if I should just go back up and hide myself, Kris spotted me and immediately skipped over to me.
"Master!! You’re here! You look so cool!"
Kris... I’m literally wearing a plain T-shirt and shorts... How the heck does any of this look cool to you?
Ava giggled, "Ara, ara~ My Divine, you look absolutely stunning in that~ It almost makes me want to bring you back to my room and just push you down~"
This was coming from an ero elf so I can’t really trust her opinion.
But the rest seemed to agree for some reason so I’m pretty sure they were just being polite.
Oh whatever... We’re all travelling incognito today so it doesn’t really matter anyway... We’re just a bunch of friends who are going out to tour the city and stuff so what I’m wearing shouldn’t really matter.
I nodded at them, "Everyone ready to go then?"
"Yes~" All of them replied at the same time.
Alright, just need to create my teleportation door then...
