The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 312: Not My Mom

Chapter 312: Not My Mom

When Jack Judd saw the stack of cash, which looked to be at least twenty or thirty thousand, his eyes lit up, but he still made a show of pushing it away. "Ma’am, you already paid us last time. If you give me more, I’m afraid it’ll spoil those little rascals!"

Vera Xavier looked at him and said, "I take care of those who work for me, but you must listen to what I say. Otherwise, you will pay a terrible price."

She said it in a soft, gentle voice, but it sent a chill down Jack Judd’s spine. He remembered how she had dealt with Wesley Kane, her decisiveness against the Langdon Family, and the man standing behind her, Nathaniel Nathan. Even if he had ten times the courage, he wouldn’t dare to disobey her!

He quickly took the passbook and said, "Rest assured, ma’am. If you tell me to go east, I won’t dare go west! I won’t touch a single cent of the money in this passbook!"

Vera Xavier nodded lightly. "Go get it done."

After Jack Judd left with the passbook, a hint of mockery colored Vera Xavier’s eyes. ’Cara Preston, you’d better not disappoint me this time.’

The person Rona Langdon loved most in the world was herself, followed by her own son, Maxwell Preston, and then Cara Preston. This time, Vera Xavier was going to give Rona Langdon a proper taste of what it felt like to be abandoned by everyone.

With these matters arranged, Vera Xavier finally felt at ease. She let out a long, luxurious stretch. The past few days had truly exhausted her—what with the college entrance exams and dealing with Rona Langdon, her nerves had been constantly on edge. Now that things were more or less settled, she felt the fatigue wash over her.

But there was still one more important matter she needed to handle. So, she turned and went straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau. When she came out, a clerk was with her.

After Rona Langdon and her group were taken to the police station for brawling, her first instinct was to cause a scene like last time and try to extort some money out of the situation. However, the thugs were so unbelievably aggressive that she grew fearful and couldn’t play to her usual strengths.

The members of the Langdon Family looked fierce, but they could only bully ordinary people. They were at a clear disadvantage against actual thugs.

The thugs insisted that the Langdons were deadbeats who refused to pay their debts. Most importantly, they produced evidence: an IOU from Jason Langdon!

And so, the group descended into another round of chaotic arguments.

The police officers at the station were getting a massive headache from the ruckus. This group of people was so belligerent they practically blew the roof off the station.

When Vera Xavier arrived with the clerk from the Civil Affairs Bureau, Rona Langdon had one foot propped on a table, fiercely pointing and cursing at one of the thugs while a police officer roared, "Sit down properly!"

The moment Rona Langdon saw Vera Xavier, it was as if a light bulb went on in her head. She pointed a finger right at Vera’s face and cursed, "Vera Xavier, did you hire these people to mess with me?"

Vera Xavier put on an aggrieved expression. "Ms. Langdon, it’s bad enough that you have such a vicious heart and refuse to care for my father, but how can you falsely accuse me like this? How could I possibly know people like them!"

Rona Langdon’s fierce, unreasonable demeanor was a stark contrast to Vera Xavier’s gentle, well-behaved facade. No one was going to believe Rona.

How could such a sweet, sensible girl be mixed up with thugs? It was one thing for this woman to abandon her own husband, but to sling mud at her own daughter? She was utterly shameless!

Rona Langdon was furious. "What ’Ms. Langdon’? Vera Xavier, I’m your mother!"
