Chapter 313: Finally Divorced

Vera Xavier seemed startled. She trembled as she said, "But you already disowned me in front of everyone at the hospital today. You also said you wanted to divorce my dad. I’m staying with my dad, not you. So, you’re not my mom anymore."

Rona Langdon, already seething with rage because she couldn’t tear into the young thugs, leaped up to attack Vera Xavier. Instead, she accidentally clawed the Civil Affairs Bureau clerk standing next to Vera.

She came at them furiously, instantly leaving a long, bloody scratch on the clerk’s neck.

The clerk from the Civil Affairs Bureau had initially been reluctant to handle the divorce papers outside the office. But she couldn’t refuse Vera Xavier’s gentle pleas, nor could she ignore the strings Aaron Cheney’s parents pulled to smooth things over. And so, she had come with Vera.

Her usual stance on divorce was to encourage reconciliation, not separation. But before she and Vera came to find Rona Langdon, she had first seen Zachary Preston, lying motionless in his bed. Then she saw the arrogant and aggressive Rona Langdon. On top of that, while getting Zachary’s signature at the hospital, a crowd of fellow patients had described Rona’s behavior to her. She concluded that it was better for the two of them to divorce after all.

The Civil Affairs Bureau clerk exploded with anger. "You woman! How dare you act so arrogantly in a police station? Do you really think the police are just for show?"

An officer, who had already been watching, came over, twisted Rona Langdon’s arm, and slammed her face onto the table.

The officer had been itching to hit Rona Langdon for a while. However, regulations forbade him from using force on a suspect, so he had been holding back. Now that he finally had a chance, he certainly wasn’t going to let it go.

Rona Langdon began to wail at the top of her lungs as usual, but the officer didn’t let go. "Keep this up, and I’ll place you under administrative detention right now!"

Tears streamed down Rona Langdon’s face as she cried, but the curses spilling from her mouth were still incredibly vile.

The Civil Affairs Bureau clerk, seething with suppressed anger, said, "Here is your divorce agreement with Zachary Preston. Sign it!"

Vera Xavier chimed in from the side with a lie: "Ms. Langdon is illiterate."

The clerk from the Civil Affairs Bureau was a woman with a backbone. She directly took out an ink pad, grabbed Rona Langdon’s hand, pressed it onto the pad, and then stamped it onto the divorce agreement!

Vera Xavier watched from the side, the corner of her mouth twitching. ’Well,’ she thought, ’Rona Langdon has been screaming about divorcing Zachary Preston every day anyway. This doesn’t really go against her wishes, and it solves the problem perfectly.’

Rona Langdon had wanted to divorce Zachary Preston all along; she just also wanted the house. But after the morning’s events, Rona vaguely understood that she wasn’t going to get the house.

In this era, a house in Crestfall only cost a few tens of thousands of yuan. Rona Langdon felt that she had a good amount of money on hand now. It wouldn’t be impossible to use some of it to buy a house, which would also be just the thing to shut the Langdon Family up.
