Chapter 589: The Beginning and the Cause

Chapter 589: The Beginning and the Cause

"The Ye Family’s people arrived so quickly? This is a little strange. Could someone have tipped them off in advance?" Lin Kuang frowned, slipping his phone into his pocket. If that wasn’t the case, then their swift arrival was far too coincidental. He was lost in thought as he pondered this.

Just then, Mu Wan came walking down the stairs. Hearing the footsteps, Lin Kuang turned to look, and his eyes immediately lit up at the sight of her outfit. She was wearing a pair of shorts that left her alluring legs on full display, paired with a simple white T-shirt. The ensemble gave her an air of pure innocence, a combination that left Lin Kuang momentarily stunned. After all, he had never seen Mu Wan wear anything in this style before.

"My dear Wan’er, you look beautiful today," Lin Kuang said with a grin, his eyes lingering on her for an extra moment.

Hearing his praise, a sweet feeling bloomed in Mu Wan’s heart, but she deliberately put on a sullen expression. "So you’re saying I wasn’t pretty before?" she asked irritably.

"Ah, how could that be? My dear Wan’er has always been beautiful. I just meant that my darling Wan’er looks gorgeous no matter what style she wears," Lin Kuang said with a beaming smile.

At his words, Mu Wan finally nodded in satisfaction. "Hmph, that’s more like it. Come on, let’s go shopping." A smile returned to her pretty face as she spoke.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang gave a bitter smile. "My dear Wan’er, I’m afraid we can’t go."

"Huh? Why not?" Her newfound joy instantly deflated as she couldn’t help but ask.

"Ahem, it’s nothing serious, but something’s come up at the San Ye Sect." Lin Kuang then explained the phone call from Luo Wenjun.

"I see," Mu Wan nodded in understanding. "Well, we can skip shopping then. But I’m going with you." She looked at him with pitiful, pleading eyes.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang felt a little helpless. Honestly, he didn’t want to bring her along. With the Ye Family on their way, a major fight was likely to break out at the San Ye Sect. How could he possibly take Mu Wan to such a dangerous place? But faced with her pitiful expression, he couldn’t find it in his heart to refuse her.

"Alright, I promise. But I have one condition," Lin Kuang said.

"Yes, yes! What is it? Just say it," Mu Wan replied, beaming with happiness.

"It’s simple. Once we’re there, you have to do as I say," Lin Kuang stated.

"Of course! When have I ever not listened to you?" Mu Wan said with a smile, putting on an obedient expression.

Lin Kuang rolled his eyes. When have you not listened to me? More like, when have you ever listened to me! he grumbled internally. Of course, he would never dare say such a thing out loud.

"Alright then, let’s get going. We should tell Auntie first so she doesn’t make lunch for us," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

"Okay, let’s go right now," Mu Wan replied, smiling.

A moment later, after letting Zeng Yuxiang know they were leaving, the two left the villa.

Lin Kuang drove, heading for the San Ye Sect headquarters with Mu Wan. After nearly forty minutes, he finally pulled up to the building. They parked and got out of the car.

As soon as Lin Kuang stepped out, a man who had clearly been waiting hurried over. "Mr. Lin, please follow me," the man said, his voice full of respect.

"Alright. Lead the way," Lin Kuang responded.

The man nodded and led Lin Kuang and Mu Wan into the building’s elevator. As soon as they were inside, the elevator began a swift descent. In just a few seconds, the doors opened, and the three of them stepped out.

Luo Wenjun and his men were already waiting respectfully by the elevator doors. Seeing Lin Kuang emerge, Luo Wenjun quickly stepped forward. "Mr. Lin, you’ve arrived," he said with the utmost respect.

"Mr. Luo," Lin Kuang said with a slight smile, "let’s find a more private place to talk."

"Certainly. Please follow me, Mr. Lin," Luo Wenjun said respectfully, turning to lead the way.

A few moments later, they arrived at Luo Wenjun’s office. Only Lin Kuang, Mu Wan, and Luo Wenjun entered, with the others remaining outside.

"Mr. Lin, Miss, please take a seat," Luo Wenjun offered politely once more.

After they sat down, Lin Kuang waved a hand dismissively. "Mr. Luo, there’s no need to be so formal. We’re all family now."

Hearing this, Luo Wenjun was taken aback for a moment. In his mind, he was merely a pawn for Lin Kuang. But now, Lin Kuang was treating him like one of his own. The gesture was not only surprising but also deeply touching. Although he couldn’t be certain if Lin Kuang was sincere, the words themselves were incredibly comforting. As this thought settled, Luo Wenjun visibly relaxed and sat down smiling across from them.

Seeing Luo Wenjun relax, Lin Kuang also breathed a sigh of relief. This was the attitude he had hoped for.

"Tell me what happened," Lin Kuang asked with a smile. "How did the Ye Family find out so quickly? And when will they be here?"

Luo Wenjun gave a wry smile. "Mr. Lin, I’m afraid I’ve mishandled this. I thought the news wouldn’t leak, but somehow it still got out. I estimate they’ll arrive in about half an hour."

Lin Kuang nodded. This wasn’t entirely unexpected. Besides, he had already considered how he would deal with the Ye Family ever since he took control of the San Ye Sect. After all, He Dong and He Qiang had been in the wrong, so it was only natural for him to deal with them. He would simply explain the situation to the Ye Family when they arrived. If they refused to listen to reason, well, he had no problem with taking action.

"I understand. It’s alright, we’ll wait. Do you know who from their family is coming?" Lin Kuang asked.

Luo Wenjun shook his head with a bitter smile. "I honestly don’t know. I only know that they’re on their way, but I have no idea how many people are coming."

"Alright. Then we’ll just wait here. It’s only half an hour," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

Luo Wenjun nodded and sat down to wait quietly. Barely twenty minutes passed before his phone rang. He answered it quickly, and his expression changed instantly. At the same time, a flurry of urgent footsteps echoed from the hallway. The steps halted for a split second before—BANG!—the office door was violently kicked open.
